Join us while we analyze ATP Houston and WTA Charleston quarterfinals. Find out our two top tennis picks for this events and why should you play these valuable tennis bets.

John Isner (1) vs. Hyeon Chung
In our tournament analysis, we mentioned that John Isner should play this event with a good mindset after two early losses in 2014 and 2015 and the American showed that on the previous round. John made his debut on the 2nd round against Denis Kudla, defeating his fellow countryman by 7 – 6 7 – 6, in a match where Isner fired 24 aces, didn’t face a single break point and clearly raised his level on the tie breaks.

Hyeon Chung is looking for his first career appearance on the semifinals of an ATP event, after losing on his previous appearance at the quarterfinals last season in Shenzhen. The fast conditions in Houston suit Chung’s game style, with the South-Korean winning 6 of the 7 matches he played on this event throughout his career. Despite being one of the most promising young players on tour, Hyeon still has a long way to go and lot to improve, especially on the mental side. Chung showed some mental weakness on his previous two round, losing one set against Victor Estrella Burgos and other against Tommy Paul after serving for the set in both cases.

This will be the first career meeting between two players from completely different generations, Isner with 30 years old while Chung only has 19.

With Isner serving at such high level it will be very hard for anyone to break up. Chung is a very good baseline player and he should give a good fight on this match but after seeing his mental inconsistency in the previous two rounds, is hard to see him holding up against such a lethal opponent like Isner. With this in mind, we believe John should be too strong on pressure points and for that reason, we advise you to add his set handicap to your tennis picks.

Sara Errani (5) vs. Yulia Putintseva
It has been a remarkable week for Yulia Putintseva, with the Kazakh reaching WTA Charleston quarterfinals for the first time on her career. This is Yulia’s third appearance on this event and after two first round losses in 2013 and 2015, Putintseva surprised this week quality players like Sabine Lisicki or Venus Williams. Yulia is a fearful competitor but it won’t be easy for her to play at her best level after a three hours battle against Venus.

Sara Errani is for the third consecutive year on Charleston’s quarterfinals but she was never able to reach the following stage. Charleston’s fast clay courts aren’t the best for Sara’s game style yet, the Italian won the two matches she played this week in straight sets against Yaroslava Shvedova and Samantha Stosur. Errani is known for her defensive skills, always returning an extra ball and not giving any free point to her opponents.

This two players will face each other for the second time on their careers, with Errani winning the previous at the French Open in 2013 by 6 – 1 6 – 1.

Errani is probably the last player Putintseva would like to face after a three hours battle. The Italian will force Yulia to play long rallies and as we said, she won’t give any free point to the Kazakh. The first set might be closer but as long as time goes by, Errani’s consistency might be too much for her opponent and for that reason, we suggest you to take advantage of the Italian tennis odds by placing a bet on her spread for this contest.
