Jelena Ostapenko vs. Carla Suarez Navarro (8)
It has been a remarkable week for our player to keep an eye on, Carla Suarez Navarro, with the Spaniard reaching her 7th career final, the first on a WTA Premier event. Carla has been absolutely brilliant on this event, not losing a single set so far. We picked the Spaniard to give a good fight on her semifinals clash against Agnieszka Radwanska, but Suarez Navarro was even better than we expected with an overwhelming 6 – 2 6 – 0 triumph. Carla’s numbers were impressive, with the world no.11 ending the match with 21 winners / 8 unforced errors and breaking her opponent 6 times.

Jelena Ostapenko will be looking for her first career title, after losing her previous WTA final last year in Quebec. It has been a dream week for the 18 years old from Latvia, defeating big names of the game like Svetlana Kuznetsova or Petra Kvitova, but is also important to mention that Ostapenko had some luck on this event, especially at the semifinals where she benefited from Andrea Petkovic’s retirement due to a leg injury.

This will be the second career contest between these two players, with Ostapenko winning the previous last year at Wimbledon by 6 – 2 6 – 0.

Despite Ostapenko’s lead on h2h, it should be noted that Carla was at a terrible level when they faced each other last year and grass is the Spaniard’s worst surface. Suarez Navarro is playing an unbelievable level of tennis and as we also referred in our quarterfinals preview, Carla can handle very well her opponent’s powerful groundstrokes. The Spaniard should be too solid for her opponent and with this in mind, we suggest adding Carla Suarez Navarro’s spread to your tennis picks.

Marcos Baghdatis vs. Stan Wawrinka (2)
Stan Wawrinka will try to extend his outstanding record in finals, with the Suisse winning the last 8 finals he played. As we mentioned in our semifinals analysis, it was not an easy tournament for Stan, with the world no.4 being close from elimination on his first round match against Sergiy Stakhovsky, but after that tough contest the Suisse raised the level of his game. At the semifinals, Wawrinka saw Nick Kyrgios retiring due to a back problem, when he was leading by 6 – 4 3 – 0.

Last year’s haven’t been easy for Marcos Baghdatis, with the Cypriot struggling with several physical problems. Marcos said in a recent interview, that he’s feeling close to his best, and this week he showed that by reaching his 12th career final. Despite being priced as underdog in three of the four matches he played in Dubai, Baghdatis only lost one set in his path to the final – against Feliciano Lopez at the semifinals. Marcos’ consistent baseline game and defensive skills have been the key to his success, with the former Australian Open runner-up being just too solid for his opponents.

This will be the seventh career meeting between this pair, with Wawrinka leading on h2h by 6 – 0.

Stan is the undeniable favorite for this event and it’s very unlikely to see him losing this match. Wawrinka raises his level on big games and as we mentioned, he won his previous eight finals, two of them on Grand Slam events. There isn’t much Baghdatis can do from the baseline and his defensive skills won’t be enough against Stan’s firepower. Having said that, our advice is for you to add the Suisse’s spread tennis odds as the best play for this ATP Dubai final.
