Martin Klizan vs. Gael Monfils (5)
With another outstanding comeback, Martin Klizan booked a place into his first ATP 500 final. After saving five match points on his quarterfinals match against Roberto Bautista Agut, the Slovakian saved three more on his semifinals encounter with Nicolas Mahut. The last two days have been extremely demanding for Klizan, with the world no.43 spending 5:30 hours on court and it won’t be easy for him to keep the same level at this final.

It has been a very solid week for Gael Monfils, with the French dropping only one set on his 2nd round match against Borna Coric. Gael is known for struggling to find the best motivation on lower events, but this week he has been extremely focused on his task. After his semifinal victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber, Monfils said he's very pleased about his game level and his baseline consistency, especially with the backhand.

This will be the second career meeting between this pair, with Gael winning the previous one in 2007 at Washington.

Klizan has a perfect record on ATP finals, winning all his previous three, but Monfils’ baseline consistency might be too much for the Slovakian to handle. Martin will try to control the rallies with his left-handed crossed forehand; however, those shots will land on Gael’s super solid backhand. This is a great opportunity for the French to grab his first ATP 500 final and the match-up also seems to suit the French. With this in mind, we’ll add Gael’s spread to our tennis picks.

Dominic Thiem (5) vs. Nicolas Almagro
Our player to keep an eye on, Dominic Thiem, kept his great run with a surprising victory over Rafael Nadal. We picked the Austrian to cover the set handicap against Nadal, but the Austrian went a step further, defeating the Spaniard on a third set tie break after saving one match point. Thiem served at an outstanding level, placing 66% first serve and winning 81.25% of his service games, which is a great number on clay against such a terrific returner as Nadal.

After almost two years, Nicolas Almagro returns to an ATP final after his first career victory over David Ferrer. Almagro played at a very good level, with his backhand down the line creating many problems to his fellow countryman. Nicolas’ serve has also been extremely solid, with the Spaniard winning all his service games in the previous two matches against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and David Ferrer.

They played earlier this year at the Australian Open, where Thiem emerged victorious by 6 – 3 6 – 1 6 – 3.

This should be a high quality match between two great baseliners with one-handed backhands. However, Thiem seems to be at a higher level and his heavy kick serve should be a great weapon against Almagro’s one handed-backhand. Dominic’s top spin groundstrokes are also extremely effective against this opponent, with the ball bouncing higher and not allowing Almagro to hit the ball at a perfect height, especially on the backhand side. Having said that, we advise taking advantage of Thiem’s valuable tennis odds on this match, by betting on the Austrian.
