The MLS resumes play this weekend after its All-Star break. Among the top fixtures, Atlanta United hosts defending champion Toronto, while expansion LAFC visits New York to face Bradley Wright-Phillips and the Red Bulls.

With the top spot in the East, a dude on pace to set a scoring record and a fresh and packed building coming off hosting the ASG, expect the Five Stripes to score first and to answer any TFC goals with scores of their own en route to a “W” and 3 more points. If you can find a total at 3, grab the "over" in what could be an exciting affair. Predicted final score: Atlanta United FC 3, Toronto FC 2.

Seattle Sounders FC (7-5-9) at Minnesota United FC (9-1-12)

Saturday, 8 p.m. ET

Free MLS Pick: Over 3 +105

Best Line Offered: Bovada

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3411539, "sportsbooksIds":[999996,93,1096,999991,1389], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

A team apparently allergic to draws, Minnesota United (8-1-3) has played very well at home this season, especially of late, going unbeaten at home in July (4-0-0) and outscoring opponents by a robust 14-7 margin in the hottest month ever.

MNUFC W4 straight at home (14 GF/6 GA)

MNUFC matches in July averaged 4.50 gpg (6, 6, 3, 5, 3, 7)

SEA has only 2 goals in L3 road but has 0 losses (WDD)

Looking at the only 3 meetings in this Western Conference series after the Loons expanded into the MLS in 2016 (SEA 3-1 MNUFC, SEA 2-1 MNUFC, MNUFC 0-4 SEA), we can see that Darwin Quintero (9 goals), Christian Ramirez (8 goals) and Minnesota haven’t beaten Seattle yet and have been outscored 9-2 in games with at least 3 goals scored in all of them. With the hosts feeling good at home and coming off of a 5-goal explosion there against expansion side LAFC on July 22, expect scoring here with both sides probably good for at least 2 goals apiece. Seattle’s desperation combined with the Loons' newfound confidence at home translates to a quick, carefree pace and scoring answering scoring likely, and a draw (high +266, Pinnacle) a distinct possibility. Predicted final score: Minnesota United FC 2, Seattle Sounders FC 2.

[/]{"component":"video", "type":"youtube", "url":"https://giphy.com/embed/ftexUk2rPZXua54HF4", "videoSize":"Large" }[/]

Los Angeles FC (10-6-5) at New York Red Bulls (13-4-5)

Sunday, 6 p.m. ET (FS1)

Free MLS Picks: Red Bulls -153 and Over 3 -120

Best Lines Offered: Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3411718, "sportsbooksIds":[238,180,1602,274,93], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Bradley Wright-Phillips (14 goals), Daniel Royer (6 goals), Florian Valot (3 goals) and the Red Bulls (8-1-2 at home) are coming off a tough 3-2 home loss to Columbus in a fixture which saw the visitors jump to a 3-0 lead at halftime and then hold on for the victory. Here, Adama Diomande (9 goals), All-Star Carlos Vela (8 goals), Diego Rossi (6 goals) and LAFC (5-1-5 on road) will probably be in a serious, focused mood from the start after getting embarrassed in Minneapolis two weekends ago, 5-1, as the Loons exploded on the West Coast expansion side, who have been a very respectable team on the road.

LAFC L6 road matches averaged 5.17 gpg (6, 4, 7, 3, 3, 8)

RBNY L6 home matches averaged 4.00 gpg (5, 2, 5, 3, 3, 4)

This is the first ever meeting between RBNY and LAFC

With both sides a bit rested from the All-Star break, LAFC coming off matches with 4 and 6 goals and the Red Bulls coming in off a game with 5 goals scored, both the totals and side markets seem playable here with the hosts not wanting to lose 2 straight at home, LAFC a long way from their home (2,780 miles) and probably in the wrong spot and the wrong time, despite the three-pronged firepower they will bring. Look for a better performance from the 3rd-place Red Bulls (41 points) who will still be remembering those first 45 minutes against Columbus and will want to put in a stronger effort for their new coach (Chris Armas) and not let 2nd-place NYCFC (43 points) or 1st-place Atlanta FC (47 points) get too far out of its sights in the Eastern Conference table. Predicted final score: New York Red Bulls 3, Los Angeles FC 1.
