Arsenal and West Ham United are set to collide on Sunday's round of Premier League season openers. With soccer odds already in full swing, we analyse this matchup and serve up our soccer picks.

Expectations Running High Across The Board
The Gunners are coming off another solid season in the Premier League with a top four finish that secured them an 18th straight appearance in Champions League. They also won a second straight FA Cup. Still, expectations at the Emirates run higher than that; it's simply not enough to be an also ran in domestic or Europe's top flight action. Consider the talent contained within, this is a club that should be collecting more silverware than it has.

Every cloud has a silver lining. While the Gunners finished third in Premier League with a 22-9-7 record and 75 points (a massive 12 points behind Chelsea in the table), they were in fact the better team (by a point) over the course of the last 23 games of the season. Alas, slipping 13 points behind Chelsea in the first 15 games proved to be an insurmountable, not least when the Blues maintained their solid form throughout. The Gunners never could quite close the gap.

Nevertheless, that form bodes well for the coming season. It seems for the first time in a long time Arsenal really does have a team that can challenge for the Premier League title, if not more. Arsenal are the third favorites at +450 to win the Premier League title after Chelsea at +150 and Man City at +275.

Can Arsenal Challenge For Premier League Title?
Arsene Wenger too believes this is the year when Arsenal finally competes for the domestic title. Then again, he would say that.

Le Professor was his typical unassuming self in the transfer window with nary a signing, but he did pick up Chelsea castoff Petr Chech. The net minder is sure to give Arsenal more stability between the posts than Wojcech Szczesny. Another dazzling soccer bauble that evolved over the course of last season was Alexis Sanchez, who scored 16 goals in 35 starts on the season. The Chilean national is also coming off a Copa America win, leading his side to a win in the final over a highly-fancied, Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina to the title.

Match Day 1 Odds: Arsenal Massive Home Faves
Arsenal are set to kick off the 2015-2016 Premier League season on Sunday when they host West Ham United at the Emirates on Sunday, August 9. Soccer odds are in full swing for their highly anticipated season opener and, not surprisingly, they are the massive home favorites at -333 soccer odds to get off the mark with the pivotal three points at home. Colour the Gooners shocked if their side don't beat the Hammers resoundingly at the Emirates.

West Ham United have parted ways with Sam Allardyce, despite the manager leading the club back into top-flight and serving up three mid-table finishes over his four-year stint, including last season's respectable enough 12th place finish in the table. The Hammers went 12-11-15 for 47 points, a good 12 points clear of the drop zone.

The club confirmed mere minutes after the final whistle on match day 38 that they're parting ways. When probed to the cause of their refusal to extend the manager a new deal, it was merely suggested that a new era and philosophy was the goal. Enter new manager Slavan Bilic.

Croatia's former national boss Slavan Bilic inherits a pretty decent squad. A bunch of no nonsense lads from Allardyce. He's made a few additions over the offseason though in an effort to improve the team.

Importantly,, he has already created some waves in Premier League betting circles for match day 1. Throwing down the gauntlet by suggesting.Arsene Wenger and his lads could be in for a surprise on opening day. As it is, the soccer odds are stacked heavily against West Ham United at +1000 on the Premier League odds board. So you have to give it to the manager for being so ballsy.

Soccer Betting Verdict: As tempting as the idea of an upset on match day 1 is, we're sticking with the home favorites Arsenal to win outright at -333 soccer odds. However, we expect the charismatic Croatian to have a few tricks up his sleeve and the Hammers to deliver a right cracker on Sunday's round of soccer betting. So we're backing the OVER 2.5 at -143 on our soccer picks as well.

Soccer Picks: Arsenal -333 to win and Over 2.5 at -143
