Carpe Diem and Truth or Else have withdrawn from this year's Belmont Stakes. How are American Pharoah's Triple Crown odds adjusting, and are sports bettors putting any weight on these new developments?
American Pharoah’s Triple Crown odds received a bost after it was reveled that two Belmont contenders have formally withdrawn from this year’s running.
Truth or Else and Carpe Diem have both removed their names as contenders with both owners citing ‘fitness problems’ as the culprit behind the decision
While the actual extent of these so called ‘problems’ is yet to be confirmed, the owners and trainers are already starting to speak out.
“We have decided not to run Carpe Diem in the Belmont. Too good a horse to run at 90 percent,” stated WinStar Farm’s Elliott Walden.
While this is a horse that placed 10th in the Kentucky Derby, he did take the title in the Blue Grass Derby.
“The Truth Or Else is not being entered into Belmont. Filling in ankle. Minor but everything happens for a reason,” stated a tweet from co-owner Ken.
American Pharoah to Win Triple Crown?
Being the 14th horse to win both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, American Pharoah heads into Belmont as the clear betting odds. Online sportsbooks were already awaiting Wednesday’s post results, but with this new development, they are already adjusting the lines accordingly.
