The Las Vegas Aces (24-3) were handed their largest defeat in franchise history during the second superteam showdown on Sunday, when the New York Liberty dominated the second half en route to a 99-61 blowout. The performance snapped the Aces' eight-game win streak.
“If we were plumbers, there’d be a lot of people getting fired for not doing their job,” Aces head coach Becky Hammon told the Las Vegas Review Journal after the game. “Luckily, we’re basketball players, so we get to play again in a couple days and hopefully fix it.”
That's bad news for the Dallas Wings, who are fourth in the WNBA standings with a 15-13 overall record. The Aces will be motivated as three-possession favorites against a team they suffered one of their three losses to. So what is the best betting angle for Tuesday's tilt?

Hammon waved the white flag in Sunday's superteam showdown when the Aces trailed by 26 after the third quarter. The starters spent the entire fourth period watching from the bench, with the exception of the Las Vegas backcourt taking turns to spend a few minutes with the reserves. This came after the Aces had four days off in between their two August matchups.
The point is, Las Vegas is well rested and plenty motivated after Sunday's shellacking. The Aces will look to make a statement early in this game against a Wings team that has already defeated them once. It doesn't hurt that Dallas is coming off a hard-fought 104-96 loss to the Chicago Sky two days ago, either.
But this pick isn't all narrative-based, as it's never a bad idea to bet on a strong start from the Aces.
They lead the WNBA with a net rating of 22.4 in the first half, according to WNBA.com. No other team is within 10 points of that league-leading net rating, while the Wings rank fifth with a net rating of 3.7.

That said, I'll also be playing Las Vegas -2.5 (-110) at Barstool in the first quarter for a lot of the same reasons. Per WNBA.com, the Aces boast a league-best net rating of 20.1 in the first quarter while also ranking No. 1 in offensive rating with a mark of 113.5.
We expect the Aces to control this game from the jump, but would only be willing to play both the first-quarter spread and first-half line at their respective numbers.
