It seems to me New York is way over due to get on a real hot streak here the next week at the plate, or more importantly is that they better, and Cleveland is a really solid hitting team at home.
MLB odds makers came out with this game at 8.5 and the line since then has dropped to 8. At most places this line is now at that number at regular juice but at pinnacle sports you can get over the total of 8 at +101. The way the Yankees a been hitting it makes sense for this line not to be too high, but I'm anticipating this is a game in which they break out, and Cleveland should have some good quality at-bats as well.
New York Yankees
Nathan Eovaldi for the Yankees comes in with a 4.15 ERA, 1.47 whip, 88 strikeouts, and an 11-2 record. I went against him last time out against the Blue Jays by backing the over the total. He pitched very well and my hat goes off to him, but I think on the road today he is going to struggle against the Indians. So far this season in away games he has a 4.80 ERA and batters are hitting a whopping .325 against him. The most amazing part about those two statistics is that he is 7-2 on the road as he has had some of the best run support out of any starting pitcher in the American League.
The Yankees rank second in the league in runs scored per game at 4.81, fifth in OPS at .757, and ninth in team batting average hitting .256. Although they had a tough series against Toronto, and are currently struggling at the plate, they are still one of the best hitting teams not only in the American League but in the major leagues. Today they have a good chance against a middle tiered starter to put up some runs, look for them to do just that and put up some runs early and often today.
Trevor Bauer comes in for the Indians with a 4.06 ERA, 1.23 whip, 136 strikeouts, and at 9-8 record. The 24-year-old started out really solid this year but is come back down to earth these past couple months. At home his ERA actually jumps to 5.60, and in his last five starts, two solid and three subpar, he allowed 18 earned runs. He has yet to face the Yankees this year but he is not the type of pitcher that is going to shut them out and I think the Yankees will put up some numbers pretty early against him.
Cleveland ranks 18th in runs scored per game at 4.02, 12th in OPS at .713, and 15th in batting average hitting .253 as a team. These offensive stats along with most of their other important offensive stats go up at home. There OPS almost jumps 30 points at home compared to on the road. Recently they been hitting the ball pretty well their past several games so like the Yankees versus Bauer I look for this offense to get some runners on early and do some damage.
Every game counts, and the Yankees are in pursuit of not only the AL East but the AL pennant. Against Cleveland today I look for them to have a lot of success at the plate. As well, with Eovaldi's high ERA on the road the Indians should have no problem on the offensive end. This game could get ugly early, back the over with confidence.
