Motivated after a perfect 3-0 Sunday, we are excited to share our Money Line pick for Monday's series opener between the NY Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Yankees at the “Big A” in Anaheim
The Angels open a three game home series versus the Yankees tonight at 10:05 PM ET. These teams met earlier this season in New York, the Yankees won all three games in that series, outscored the Angels by a cumulative score of 22-11, and two of the three went over the total.
I don’t think it’s going out on a limb to say that Monday’s Yankee starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia’s better days are well behind him. Sabathia has an unimpressive 5.65 ERA in fifteen starts this season, and has allowed an alarming 17 home runs during just 87 2/3 innings pitched. The Yankees veteran southpaw has displayed poor form during his previous three starts, posting a large 7.47 ERA, allowed 5 home runs in only 15 2/3 innings, and all three games went over the total.
C.J. Wilson will make his sixteenth start in 2015 tonight for the Angels. The southpaw hurler has respectable numbers this year, posting a 3.92 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. Wilson will be facing a Yankees team which has a team batting average of .259. He’s gone 13-2 in his home team starts since 2014, when facing an American League opponent that possesses a .260 or less collective batting average.
The Yankees are coming off a four game series at Houston in which they split with the Astros. They were stymied yesterday by the Astros starting pitcher Colin McHugh during a 2-1 loss. “The Bronx Bombers” are now 20-21 on the road this season, and are a far less potent offensively during away games compared to those played at Yankee Stadium. Despite going under the total on Sunday, the Yankees are 9-2 over during its previous eleven games.
The Angels enter this series with a bit of momentum following a 3-2 extra inning win over Seattle. The win was their second in a row, and they’ve now gone 4-2 on this current nine game home stand. They will be facing an opposing pitcher (Sabathia) tonight that allows an average of 7.3 hits per start. The Halos are a terrific 16-2 since 2014 when facing a starting pitcher that allows an average of 7.0 or more hits per outing. According to MLB betting odds at Bookmaker, the posted total for this game is 8.0. The Angels are an outstanding 47-19 at home since 2014, when the posted total is 8.0 or 8.5, and that includes a perfect 12-0 when C.J. Wilson is their starting pitcher. They won those twelve outings with Wilson by an average of 4.2 runs per game.
Money Line Betting System
As I touched upon earlier, C.C. Sabathia has a lofty 5.65 ERA this season. He’ll be facing an opponent (Angels) tonight that averages 3.9 runs per game. The Halos C.J. Wilson is averaging 5.6 strikeouts per start in 2015. The combination of these three pieces of data formulates a very profitable money line betting system. I’m going to use that valuable handicapping tool when making one of my MLB picks for Monday.
Any money line favorite (Angels) of -110 or more, averaging 4.2 or less runs per game, and their pitcher (Wilson) averages 5 or more strikeouts per start, versus an opponent with a starting pitcher (Sabathia) that has an ERA of 4.70 to 5.20, resulted in that favorite going 70-23 (75.3%) since 2011.
