We’ll examine Thursday’s MLB game between the Marlins and Yankees. Will the Marlins recent stellar pitching continue tonight?  Read our insightful preview article to find out our MLB pick.

Marlins and Yankees Conclude Four Game Set on Thursday
The Yankees will host the Marlins on Thursday at 7:05 PM ET. According to the MLB betting odds at 5Dimes, the Yankees are a -140 money line favorite, and the posted total is 8.0. Today will be the finale of a four game interleague series between these teams, and each of the first three went under the total.

Starting Pitcher
Matt Latos will make the start for Miami today, and his whole body of work this season has been less than impressive. In 10 starts he’s posted a lofty 5.44 ERA. However, the veteran right-hander has been much better on the road than at home. He’s 3-1 under the total on the road with a stellar 2.42 ERA. He made his first start since returning from the DL this past Saturday versus Colorado, and it was a very encouraging outing. Latos allowed just 1 earned run on 4 hits in 7.0 innings, and also struck out 11 while walking just 2.

The Yankees will go with southpaw C.C. Sabathia on Thursday. Saying that Sabathia has been a disappointment this season would surely be a vast understatement. The aging hurler has a lofty 5.38 ERA in thirteen starts, and he’s allowed 14 home runs in 77.0 innings pitched. He’s been especially ineffective in four outings at Yankee Stadium, evidenced by a huge 9.00 ERA, and terrible 1.63 WHIP.

Final Analysis
The Marlins have gone a decent 8-6 versus southpaw starting pitchers in 2015. Even more applicable pertaining to MLB handicapping is their sparkling .291 team batting average in those games. Miami has also held opponents to 1.6 runs per game and a team batting average of only .177 during their previous seven contests. Marlins opponents have 7 hits or less in each of those last seven games. I’m going to have a small lean toward the money line road underdog for one of my  MLB picks on Thursday.

MLB Pick: Miami +130 on the money line at 5Dimes.
