Why waste money betting on Juicy Money Lines when the Run Line can offer so much more profit? Case in point, the Giants vs. Dodgers match, featuring a Vogelsong-Greinke matchup.

San Francisco Giants (Vogelsong) vs. LA Dodgers (Greinke) 10:10 ET
The San Francisco Giants and LA Dodgers conclude their early week, 3-game set with this 10:10 ET start.  The Giants beat Kershaw last night behind Bumgarner (2-1) to even the series at one game apiece and move to within 3 ½ games of the Dodgers for the Division lead.  That San Fran win means the Giants are now 4-1 in the season series after sweeping a 3-game set at home against LAD earlier this month.  In tonight’s meeting, San Fran sends Vogelsong to the hill as “sacrificial lamb” against Zach Greinke, who is once again pitching outstanding baseball.  In addition, the Dodgers have been highly resilient in going 51-26/loss L1+Y.

Before blindly placing your  MLB picks  keep in mind that the San Francisco hitting has been horrendous this year.  Since taking 2 of 3 at Arizona to start the season, San Fran has plated just 5 or more runs on 3 occasions in their next 18 games.  Vogelsong has actually pitched decently from this mound against the Dodgers.  In 6 starts, San Fran has gone 5-1, as Vogelsong has spun a 3.38 ERA.   But, his current form defies a continuation of that trend.  For the season, Vogelsong is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA, allowing 10 walks in 16 1/3 IP.  He will need to be his best, if he is to match the red hot Greinke.

The Dodgers are beginning to fill up their disabled list.  Carl Crawford with a torn oblique has now joined Yasiel Puig (hamstring) on the disabled list.  But, LA manager, Don Mattingly, remains positive about his team’s ability to score runs.  The Dodgers might not need many tonight with Greinke on the mound. For the year, Greinke is 3-0 with a miniscule 1.35 ERA.  That includes 26 2/3 IP in which Greinke has allowed just 4 runs on 16 hits with a 21/5 KBB, a 0.79 WHIP and a .170 BAA.  In 31 starts from this mound for the Dodgers, Greinke is 19-4 with a 2.38 ERA.  In 7 starts against the Giants, Greinke is 5-0 with a 1.99 ERA.  That is just a microcosm of the fact that since joining the Dodgers, Greinke is now a mind-blowing 21-1 vs. NL West division rivals.

We lay the runs offered on MLB odds knowing that 10 of 12 LA victories have been by 2 or more runs, including 7 of 9 on their home field.  For the Giants, 9 of 12 losses have come by 2 or more runs.

MLB Picks: Take LA Dodgers (-1 ½ R/+115) at The Greek
