With a somewhat surprising low total I am backing the under when the Chicago White Sox visit the Tampa Bay Rays.

Across the Board
MLB odds makers have made the total on this game 6.5 and at pretty much every sportsbook that is the number you can get at -110. At Pinnacle you can get the game at 7 with higher juice.

Big Arms
Jeff Samardzija takes the mound for the Sox and he has had a rough season so far. Still, he has the type of ability to put up a lot of zeros on the scoreboard. He comes in with a 4.93 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, but his career numbers are much better. Although recently he has not been sharp he threw seven solid innings of baseball at Toronto, one of the best hitting teams in baseball, allowing zero earned runs. Chris Archer for the Rays has been lights out this year, and comes in with a 1.84 ERA and WHIP just below 1.00. He has been fantastic this year and is second in the league in strikeouts. He has electric stuff and should plow through the subpar hitting White Sox.

At the Plate
Neither the Rays nor the Sox are doing well at the plate this year and rank in the bottom ten in most offensive categories. Most notably the White Sox rank 27th in on base % and the Rays rank 27th in batting average. Both teams could really struggle today.

Look for both pitchers to go deep in this contest. Although it is an American League game this matchup should stay well below the number.
