White Sox vs. Indians Underrated Pitching Duel to Go 'Under'

Good pitching matchup plus 2 subpar hitting teams clearly suggest betting on the total. Although these pitchers have an ERA just over 4.00 they both have pitched some really solid innings this season.

Odds
MLB odds makers have come out with this game at 7.5 and it seems just about right to me. The juice has gone up since the line 1st open just a little bit, but right now you can still get the 7.5 at most sportsbooks. Early money has come in on the under and I don't see this line moving too much from the 7.5 already established.

Hot and Cold pitchers
Both starters today have struggled at times this year and at other times have been lights out. For the White Sox Jeff Samardzija the mound with a 4.08 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, but in mid-June he has been fantastic and in July he has a 1.90 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. There have been a couple rumors out there that he might get traded before the deadline and that remains to be seen, but after a tough start of the year he has really started to come around and pitch well. For the Cleveland Indians Trevor Bauer gets the start and has had the opposite kind of year as Samardzija where he started off well but has been just marginal lately. He comes in with a 4.03 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, and should be happy to see the Chicago White Sox offense today. Although he has a 4.42 ERA in his three July starts, he has a good chance to have a good outing against the poor hitting White Sox team.

Batting
Both the Indians and the White Sox have been less than stellar at the plate so far this season, particularly the White Sox. The Indians ranked 20th in the major leagues in runs scored per game and the White Sox rank dead last at 30th. In OPS we see just about the same with Cleveland ranked 17th and the White Sox again ranked dead last at 30th. One good note on the White Sox is they don't rank last in batting average but still they rank 25th out of 30 major league teams, and Cleveland is just ranks 21st.

With Samardzija pitching well lately and Bauer looking to bounce back both these pitchers should have a good day on the mound. Add in the fact they both get the face two subpar to poor hitting team and we can look for a low-scoring affair today, back with confidence the under with your MLB picks.
