Keep in mind when preparing your MLB picks for Mariners vs. Blue Jays that what we have here is a great pitcher vs. a solid hitting team today, with good value on the plus-money line dog.
Toronto has come out as a +135 underdog in MLB odds. Pretty surprising line until you consider who they are facing in Felix Hernandez. Still, at home the Blue Jays are 11-9 , and although they are not winning much lately they are still ranked as one of the best offenses in the league.
Hernandez will go up against Marco Estrada who is having a decent year so far. He comes in with a 3.55 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He is a pretty good strikeout pitcher with 26 K’s in 25 innings so far this season. Hernandez comes in as good as ever with a 2.30 ERA and a WHIP just under 1.00. He is also, of course, a good strikeout pitcher with 55 K’s in 54 innings. But if you are going to get to him it is possible to do it when he is on the road. On the road he has an ERA a bit closer to 3.00 and batter are hitting .271 against him this season in his three starts.
Although they are facing a tough task in Hernandez the Blue Jays are leading the league in runs per game compared to the Mariners ranked 24th. In other categories is more of the same with Toronto ranking 12th or higher in all major offensive categories and the Mariners, except for slugging where they rank 9th compared to Toronto ranked 3rd, rank in the bottom half of the league.
If Estrada can come out and have a decent outing I think Toronto has a very good chance to win this game. I like them for MLB picks on the plus money line today to do just that.
