It is time to look at some midweek baseball totals action. We have quite a few day games and one in particular in the National League looks inviting as does a couple of contests under the lights.

It was a tough day for me against MLB odds on totals and I will do everything I can to have bounce back today and improve on 13-10 record of late.

No Shortage of Runs With Phillies and Padres Again

The two worst scoring teams in baseball are Philadelphia (4.0 RPG) and San Diego (3.9 RPG). At the same time, neither does a very good job in run prevention, with the Phillies at 4.9 RPG allowed and the Padres at 5.1. The latter has particularly helped the Friars, who have won both games in this series by scores of 7-4 and 8-4 last night, leading to a pair of OVER's. With Nick Pivetta (6.29 ERA)taking on the Pads Clayton Richard (5.14), there is little reason to believe either offense will be stalled and once again there would appear to be a very good chance these two clubs will surpass the sportsbooks posted number of 8.5.

 Betting on History in Minneapolis

When it comes to making MLB picks or betting on any sports for that matter, there are streak bettors. These people are the polar opposite of contrarian bettors, looking at information and "riding the tide". This strategy would seem to be a good one to deploy with Cleveland and Minnesota again tonight, with the total set at 9. This season, the Indians and Twins are 11-3 UNDER and since 2015 when playing at Target Field, they are 18-6 UNDER. Though the Tribe's Carlos Carrasco (11-5, 3.83 ERA) is having a much better season than Kyle Gibson (6-9, 6.02), Carrasco is 8-4 UNDER lifetime against Minnesota and Gibson is 4-1 UNDER in his last five starts versus Cleveland, including 3-0 UNDER in 2017.

Green Monster Has the Night Off in Boston

Last evening St. Louis and Boston totaled 14 runs with the Red Sox a 10-4 winner, as the team's pounded out 25 hits and the famous Green Monster in left field got plenty of background shots on television. Tonight's total has been set at 9.5, but I'm not sure it will be threatened with Lance Lynn (3.120 facing Eduardo Rodriguez (3.80). Lynn has a 1.45 ERA in his past seven starts and has held opponents to two runs or fewer in an major-league-best 18 starts and one or fewer in 12 starts, which ties him for the major league lead. Rodriguez is 5-1 UNDER at Fenway Park this season and if his team is off a victory, the left-hander is 15-4 UNDER.
