We’ll take a glance at two MLB starting pitching matchups tonight, and break down where the advantages lie when it comes to your MLB betting this evening. Read our informative sports wagering article, and make your sports betting a profitable experience.

Texas Rangers (Darvish) vs. New York Yankees (Phelps) 7:05 PM ET
The Rangers starter

The Yankees starter David Phelps has been a money guzzler for MLB bettors in 2014. The Yankees right-hander has gone 4-10 against the money line with a 4.09 ERA in those 14-starts. The good news for Yankee backers is the fact that Phelps has displayed good form over his last 3-starts, posting a stellar 2.33 ERA in those outings.

Advantage: The Rangers will have a decisive advantage in the starting pitching department tonight. If the Yankees are to attain a good betting result it’s because they worked the pitch count up of the Texas ace, and were able to expose their inept bullpen.

Boston Red Sox (Buchholz) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (Dickey) 7:05 PM ET
The Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz has been nowhere near as effective as he was a season ago when he went 12-1 with a 1.74 ERA for the defending world champions. This season has been another story as the Red Sox hurler has gone 7-8 against the money line, while posting an unimpressive 5.46 ERA, and a 1.52 WHIP. He’s coming off a shaky outing at Kansas City this past Friday. In that outing he allowed 4 earned runs and 10-hits in 6.0 innings of work. Buchholz has seen both of his starts in 2014 versus the Blue Jays go over the total, while posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in those outings.

The Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey has displayed decent form over his last 4-starts as evidenced by his solid 2.89 ERA and a a 1.00 WHIP. The Blue Jays right-hand knuckleballer has seen 7 of his last 8-starts go under the total. However, he’s gone a dismal 1-6 against the money line in his previous 7-starts. On a more positive note, Dickey has been profitable at home in 2014 going 7-4 against the money line.

Advantage: I’m giving a very small lean here to R.A. Dickey over Clay Buchholz.
