Braves vs. Mets 7:10 PM ET
The Braves starter Julio Teheran has been solid in his last 2-starts going 2-0 against the money with a 1.50 ERA. The Braves hurler has posted a stellar 2.96 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 24-starts in 2014. Since the start of the 2013 campaign, Teheran has compiled a 3.13 ERA in 4-starts versus the Mets.

The Mets Zack Wheeler has gone 3-0 against the money in his career at home versus the Braves with a 4.34 ERA. Wheeler has displayed terrific form over his past 10-starts, allowing 2 earned runs or less in 9 of the 10, posting an outstanding 2.12 ERA and going 7-3 against the money.

Advantage: Although Teheran has been sharp in his last 2-starts, I really like the consistency that Wheeler has shown over an extended period of time. I’m going to give a slight betting edge here to Zack Wheeler of the Mets over Julio Teheran of the Braves, so make sure to go place your bet at a trusty sportsbook like Bet365.

Marlins vs. Angels 10:05 PM ET
The Marlins right-hander Henderson Alvarez has gone a terrific 17-7 against the money this season with a stellar 2.57 ERA, and has earned a whopping +11.20 units against the money line. As a matter of fact, 26% of the Marlins wins this season have come with Alvarez as their starting pitcher. In addition, the Miami hurler has gone 14-2 during his last 16 against the money, including 7-1 the last 8 on the road. Alvarez has 3-career starts against the Angels with all of them coming in 2011 and 2012. In those 3 outings, he had a dominating 1.57 ERA and 0.91 WHIP while going a perfect 3-0 against the money.

The Angels southpaw Hector Santiago enters tonight in superb form over his last 3-starts by posting a sparkling 1.06 ERA. Unfortunately for the Angels hurler he went 0-3 against the money in those games, thanks to his teammates averaging just 2.0 runs per contest. Santiago has been labeled as the weak link of the Angels rotation due in part to a poor 5-13 mark against the money. Santiago has posted a very respectable 3.65 ERA in those starts, and has pitched much better than that dismal record may indicate. However, the harsh reality is, that the Angels have suffered nearly 25% of their losses this season with Santiago as their starter.

Advantage: The Marlins Henderson Alvarez has a tough assignment tonight against a very good Angels hitting team. I don’t get the feeling he’ll be intimidated, considering the way he’s taken on all comers this season. The Angels Santiago has been sort of a hard luck pitcher in 2014. I have to lean toward the Marlins Alvarez over the Angels Santiago in this one for my MLB Picks.
