Though there are a few early games, most of the action begins tonight. Here are two MLB picks that you may want to consider taking to the sportsbooks.

Detroit Tigers (Simon) vs. Chicago White Sox (Sale)
Chris Sale was torched in his latest start, easily having his worst outing of the young season. He was tagged for nine hits and eight earned runs over three innings in Minnesota. Will he get back on track tonight?

If the MLB Odds board is anything to go by, it looks likely he will. The White Sox are firm -140 to -145 favorites for tonight's home game against the Tigers, with the total at 7.5. Sale will be itching to get back on the mound after his disastrous start last week, while Detroit will turn to Alfredo Simon, who's 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA thus far in 2015.

The White Sox won yesterday's opener behind a great outing from Jeff Samardzija, who was able to bounce back after his poor start. Sale will be looking to do the same tonight. The southpaw saw his ERA jump from 2.37 to 5.32 after getting annihilated by the Twins, but we can safely expect that number to keep dwindling down - he's simply too good of a pitcher for that not to happen.

As we get set to finalize our MLB picks however, we don't see a huge edge on picking either one of these teams. Yes, the White Sox have the pitching edge, but the Tigers have clearly been the better baseball team overall. So, instead of a ML play, we'll look towards the total and predict a pitcher's duel between Sale and Simon which would result in the UNDER hitting. The total may be a little elevated after both of these starters struggled in their latest outings, so we'll gladly take advantage of the weak spot in the MLB Odds.

MLB Pick: UNDER 7.5

Chicago Cubs (Lester) vs St. Louis Cardinals (Lynn)
Busch Stadium plays host to another meeting between the Cardinals and Cubs this evening. St. Louis has been the hottest team in baseball, winning eight straight games to improve to 20-6 overall on the season.

They'll now send out Lance Lynn to the bump, with Chicago leaning on Jon Lester to help them break a four-game losing streak. When we glance over the MLB odds, we see the Cardinals favored, but perhaps not by as big of a margin as many would have thought. St. Louis is listed at right around -115 to secure the outright victory, with the O/U at seven runs.

Lynn comes in with a 1-2 record to go with a 3.07 ERA and 1.19 WHIP and has already faced (and shut down) this Cubs lineup once this season. He held Chicago to two hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out nine over six innings, yet still had to settle for the losing decision in a 2-0 loss. We'll have to see if the righty can get more run support this evening.

As for Lester, he hasn't had the best of starts for his new ballclub, but he has to be feeling more confident after his best outing of the season five days ago at home versus Milwaukee. He held the Brewers to three hits over seven scoreless innings, thus lowering his ERA from 6.23 to 4.71. The southpaw gave up eight hits and three earned in 4 and 1/3 innings in his season debut against this same St. Louis team.

With our sports picks, we have to roll with momentum and back the Cardinals to pick up their ninth straight win. Their offense has exploded in this series, totaling 17 runs through the first two games, and Lynn has been more reliable than Lester early on too. Take St. Louis.
