The MLB prop gods have officially betrayed us, but I’m am in no way concerned about the final two months of the regular season. It’s time to pour it on and cash some tickets in the month of August.
Season MLB Props Record 18-24-1 (-8.90 units)Joey Votto O/U 2 ½ Runs, Hits & RBIs
The Cincinnati Reds are up against right-hander Trevor Williams tonight, and I am looking for a patented second-half game from Votto. The lefty is swinging a sweet .311 against right-handed pitching this season, and even though he has yet to get his second half bat going like last season, tonight may be a perfect night to do it.
Votto has nine hits in his last six games and has driven in a run in three of his last four. He has only one homer this month, but even with the poor second half he is 9-for-27 in his last six, making him an attractive option.
Williams, on the other hand, hasn’t been bad lately, but hitters are starting to figure this young righty out. He has not been great against left-handed hitters this season, and I see Votto getting the better of him.Free MLB Pick: 'Over' 2½ (+125)Best Lines Offered Both: Bovada
More Runs, Hits & RBIs: Addison Russell vs. David Peralta
Both Russell and Peralta have tough assignments tonight. Arizona's Peralta has to square off against the Cubs' Jake Arrieta, while Chicago's Russell will have to bat against Diamondbacks right-hander Zack Godley.
Both pitchers have been good overall this season, but while Russell has to square off against a fellow right-hander, Peralta gets the advantage of hitting from the left side of the plate. Arrieta has not been great against left-handed hitters this season. Lefties own a .338 wOBA against him, while Peralta is hitting .309 against right-handed pitching.
Russell has cooled off some after his torrid start to the second half. Going against Godley is going to be no small challenge, either. Russell is hitting .237 against righties this season, while Godley is holding fellow right-handers to an impressive .239 wOBA over 194 total batters faced.
Even though Godley is not yet a household name, I think the sportsbooks are banking on that tonight in a game against the big-market Chicago Cubs and their former Cy Young winner. Look for the sharp play and bet Peralta to outhit Russell.Free MLB Pick: Peralta (-105)
