We've got five early games on the schedule today, but these top MLB picks will focus on tonight's larger slate. Let's get to it and maximize your profit this Wednesday.
Chicago White Sox (Rangers) vs. Texas Rangers (Martinez)
The Rangers were dominant yesterday, jumping all over Jeff Samardzija on their way to a 15-2 victory. It was a fantastic all-around showing from Texas, a team that's now won four straight while going 11-2 over its last 13 games overall. There's no doubt the Rangers are playing some great baseball right now.
Tonight they'll aim for a fifth straight win when they take on Chris Sale, though the MLB betting odds are in Chicago's favor. The White Sox are listed in the -135 to -140 range to secure a victory, while the total is at eight runs. Sale is 4-2 with a 3.66 ERA and 1.08 WHIP on the season, numbers that may not blow you away at first. However, he's been incredible over his last four starts, going at least 7 and 2/3 innings in each outing while racking up 40 strikeouts and only four walks in total.
Texas, meanwhile, will turn to Nick Martinez, who is enjoying a career season so far. He's 4-1 with a 2.03 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, but if you dive deeper you'll see that there should be some major regression coming. His SIERA is all the way up at 4.72 and his K/9 rate and xFIP leave a lot to be desired too.
With that said, we don't mind taking on a little more chalk than normal in order to back one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball. We think Sale will show up with his best stuff in this spot, and we also believe Martinez is due for some blowups sooner rather than later. As such, we're adding Chicago to our collection of MLB picks for tonight.
MLB Pick: Chicago White Sox -135 at Bet365
Los Angeles Dodgers (Bolsinger) vs. Colorado Rockies (Bettis)
Oh Coors Field, how we enjoy you so. It's been a high-scoring series so far between the Rockies and Dodgers, and that's with some great pichers taking the bump like Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.
Here in the series finale, we'll have Chad Bettis and Mike Bolsinger taking the mound, so needless to say it's no surprise to see a very high total of 10.5 runs on the board. For those interested, the Dodgers are favored at -115 to get the win on the MLB odds board - keep checking back with SBR odds in order to track the lines and get the best number you can.
Bettis has actually pitched very well for the Rockies, going 2-0 with a 2.96 ERA and 1.06 WHIP - he's gone at least eight innings in each of his last two starts, and he's only allowed a total of five earned runs over 14 and 1/3 innings at Coors Field this season. As for Bolsinger, he's also been solid as a rock, going 3-1 with a 1.15 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his starts this season, and he's already shut out these Rockies over six innings in his one meeting with them last month.
Despite both Bettis and Bolsinger proving their worth this season, there's a reason oddsmakers have posted this total at such a high number. Coors Field gives a huge advantage to hitters, and we've seen that time and time again - just look at the first three games of this series for reference. We expect more home runs here tonight, especially with how hot those Dodgers bats, namely Joc Pederson and Adrian Gonzalez, have been. So, even with this extremely high total on the board, we're rolling with the OVER.
