We've got an early start to today's MLB action, along with some great matchups on the schedule later tonight. We've done our due diligence by breaking down the various baseball betting angles and odds before dishing out our favorite value plays for Wednesday.

San Francisco Giants (Lincecum) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (Cole)
Covered by Willie Bee
The winning streak finally came to an end for the Giants last night and they'll try to immediately get back on track here in the series finale. Tim Lincecum makes the start for San Francisco, with Gerrit Cole getting the call for Pittsburgh.

Though the Giants faltered yesterday, Willie feels good about their chances this afternoon. He's on San Francisco as favorites in the MLB odds.

MLB Pick: Giants -125

Chicago Cubs (Wood) vs. Chicago White Sox (Danks)
Covered by Jeff Grant & Ron Patrick
The White Sox have taken both games (at Wrigley) against the Cubs so far and now they get to return home for the last two matchups of the series. We have John Danks up against Travis Wood in the battle on the mound.

Wood has fared better this season (3.35 ERA) than his counterpart and both Jeff and Ron believe the value is with the Cubs to finally get on the winning side again.

MLB Pick: Cubs +105

New York Yankees (Nuno) vs. Los Angeles Angels (Santiago)
Covered by Willie Bee
After stopping the bleeding with a late 4-3 win last night, the Yankees will hope to close up the series with another victory. This time around we'll have Vidal Nuno going up against Hector Santiago, with both pitchers struggling in the early stages of the season.

Considering Nuno and Santiago have a total ERA of 11.88 between them, we can't fault Willie whatsoever for thinking the OVER is the best play for this finale. Will the two offenses show up?

MLB Pick: OVER 8.5

Kansas City Royals (Shields) vs. San Diego Padres (Cashner)
Covered by Ron Patrick
With Andrew Cashner and James Shields on the hill this afternoon, runs could be extremely hard to come by.

Cashner is 2-4 with a 2.72 ERA on the season, while Shields has gone 3-3 with a 3.11 ERA. San Diego's park is already pitchers' friendly as it is, so even one single run could make the difference today. After some deliberation, Ron will be taking Kansas City at a plus price.

MLB Pick: Royals +101

St. Louis Cardinals (Wainwright) vs. Atlanta Braves (Minor)
Covered by Jeff Grant
A much-needed win for the Braves ended their huge losing run yesterday. They'll try to make it two straight when they send out Mike Minor for his second start of the season, with Adam Wainwright taking the bump for St. Louis.

Minor was solid in his debut, allowing only two runs over six innings, and Jeff is of the opinion he can lead Atlanta to a win at home. It won't be easy against Wainwright, that much we know.

MLB Pick: Braves +111

Philadelphia Phillies (Lee) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (Buehrle)
Covered by Jeff Grant
We've got two crafty veterans pitching in this one. Both Mark Buehrle (5-1, 2.25 ERA) and Cliff Lee (3-2, 3.00 ERA) have been spectacular this year and will try to guide their respective ballclubs to a victory. Toronto has taken the first two games of this interleague series so far.

Even though Buehrle and Lee have been studs, Jeff feels as if we could see more offense than people really expect. He'll be on the OVER 7.5 runs to complete his sports picks of the day.

MLB Pick: OVER 7.5
