Sportsbooks offer a lot of props that definitely provide the bettor with the edge. I'm going to expose a few of those edges and hopefully provide the betting public with a profit.
Cleveland Indians vs. Oakland Athletics
Total Strikeouts For Sonny Gray
Over 5.5 -160
Under 5.5 +120
Gray is coming off of a monster game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in which he shut out the division leaders and struck out 9 batter in the process. He's not a bigtime strikeout pitcher, but has k'd 6 batter or more in 4 of his last 6 starts. Cleveland has some respectable hitters in Kipnis, Brantley, and Brandon Moss, but this is a team that's prone to the strikeout. I like the over option in this prop.
MLB Pick- Over 5.5 -160
Will Brett Lawrie Record a Hit?
Let me preface this by saying that these are very steep odds, therefore make it a small bet. Brett Lawrie has been hitting well as of late. In his last 7 games, he's 6 for 19 with 1 HR and 5 RBI. He's also hit safely in his last 2 games. I recently remember him dominating the Dodgers and their relief pitching and looked like a superstar. This guy has potential and I definitely wouldn't fade him from the way that he's been playing as of late.

Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets
Total Strikeouts For Noah Syndergaard
Over 6.5 -105
Under 6.5 -135
This young man is a flatout beast and has already established himself in a short period of time as one of the best pitchers in the game. It's all due in part to his velocity.
Tonight, he can sweep the Nats and on national television. This is a big spot for the Texas native. He was dominant in his last outing, allowing just 3 hits in 8 innings while striking out 9 batters. The only thing to worry about here is his inconsistency as of late where throwing strikeouts is concerned. I say that he puts an exclamation point on this series with a sweep and eclipses the 6.5 strikeout total as the Mets look to pass the Nats in the division.
MLB Pick- Over 6.5 -105
Will Yunel Escobar Score a Run?
Escobar has definitely proven himself, aside from Bryce Harper, to be the best player on his team in getting on base. He sure gave Jacob deGrom fits yesterday as he went 2 for 4 and fouled off a ton of pitches. That said, this prop is about run scoring and not "will he get a hit?" The Mets are at an all time high as they've picked up some key acquisitions and are about to take over the division. The reason for the takeover is their pitching. Hall of Famer, Greg Maddux, said that he hadn't seen a pitching staff as good as his Atlanta staff from the 1990's until now in the Mets. New York is stacked.
Back to the point, Washington has to feel demoralized and Escobar would most likely need players to knock him in after getting on base. I don't see that happening. Take the no option.
