After an easy 2-0 day and winning our 2-unit play, were back on track and ready to go as there’s a full slate of MLB games on Friday for viewing and more importantly betting purposes.

Capper Catalano’s Record
173-154 -25.41 Units

We nailed the Dodgers-San Diego game with the under at 2-units as we knew that the game would be no cakewalk for Kershaw at those odds and Matt Shoemaker simply shutdown the Red Sox as we picked the visiting Angels and that game was never in doubt. Time to attack the books.

Chicago White Sox (59-68) vs. New York Yankees (64-61)
One Game at a Time
The New York Yankees need to focus on the game that they’re playing and not scoreboard watch as they attempt to shoot for a Wild Card spot in the American League.

Brandon McCarthy pitched a nearly perfect complete game for the Yanks yesterday afternoon and more importantly it gave the bullpen a rest. Now, Shane Greene, (3-1, 2.91) who has pitched really well in pinstripes, has his chance to narrow the Wild Card margain and build off of yesterday.

New York is rarely ever going to score a lot of runs. They’re going to need to win games like yesterday’s 3-0 win over the Houston Astros. It was a big game, because Mark Teixiera broke out of his shell with a couple of hits and Chase Headley and Martin Prado were both contributors. This upcoming game comes down to Shane Greene and his ability to pitch well. Facing Jose Abreu will be a tall order, but if he can be controlled to a certain extent, New York should beat Chicago quite easily.

MLB Pick: New York -185 at 5Dimes

Detroit Tigers (68-57) vs. Minnesota Twins (56-70)
Offense vs. Defense
This is clear case of pitching vs. hitting as the Twins send Tommy Milone (6-4, 3.99) to the mound at home as he faces the Detroit Tigers who are coming off of a 1 hit complete game loss by David Price against his old team. The Tigers offense failed their pitcher and look for them to come back strong as the opponent is much weaker in this matchup.

The Odds
The MLB odds are what clearly stand out in this matchup as Detroit is listed at -102 according to 5Dimes Sportsbook. When I saw these betting odds I knew that the Tigers were sending out a stiff and sure enough Robbie Ray (1-3, 5.33) will be getting the start. There’s absolutely nothing good about this starting pitching matchup from both ends.

Ray will need to pay special attention to Kennys Vargas who has played well in his

76 at-bats this season. Vargas is coming off of a 4-1 victory against the Tribe in which he went deep and was the key figure in the win.

From a Tigers perspective, Milone won’t be able to deal with the great depth in their starting lineup. Even though this is Miguel Cabrera’s team, Victor Martinez has been the best player on the Tigers roster. Nobody can be pitched around as the weaknesses are few and far between.

If Milone decides to pitch around Miggy, Victor Martinez is waiting, if he decides to pitch around Martinez, J.D. Martinez is next in line; you get the picture.

This isn’t Alex Cobb facing the Tigers lineup; Detroit should “go off”.
