Anaheim used a late rally to beat Oakland Friday night. The Angels and Jered Weaver are underdogs for Saturday's match-up with the A's, and this handicapper likes that proposition.
Angels-A's Saturday Betting Odds
As of early Saturday morning the best price we could find on Oakland and Jesse Hahn was the -124 offered at 5Dimes, while Anaheim and Jered Weaver were getting +120 at WagerWeb.
Anaheim took the opener of this series Friday night 12-7, rallying from a 7-2 deficit to score 10 runs over the last three innings. The Angels (35-33) now lead the season series over the A's (29-41) seven games to four, with the OVERS going 9-2.
Hahn (4-5, 3.62), by our strict standards, is only four-for-13 on quality starts this season, but two for his last three. Last time out he held San Diego to one run through 6 2/3 innings, and over his last three starts he's allowed six runs through 17 1/3 innings. For the season Oakland is 5-8 in Hahn's starts, with the totals skewing OVER by a 9-4 margin.
In his only career start against the Angels, back in April, Hahn gave up three runs through five innings of a 6-3 Oakland defeat.
Weaver (4-7, 4.65) is only six-for-14 on quality starts this season, and by our tough accounting 0 for his last four. Last time out he gave up five runs – four earned – through seven innings against Arizona, and over his last four starts he's allowed 18 ER and 34 hits through 26 2/3 innings. For the season Weaver has given up 98 hits, including 16 ding-dongs, through 91 innings; Anaheim is 6-8 in Weaver's starts, with the totals leaning UNDER 7-6.
Since the beginning of last season Weaver has started six times against Oakland, allowing 19 ER through 38 innings; the Angels lost four of those games, and four of those games played OVER.

The value on today's line resides with the Angels. Also, games played at the O.co Coliseum this season are 22-10 on the OVERS, and while that trend might eventually reverse itself, we'll play it to continue today.
