Sports handicapper Ian Cameron provides an MLB Early Lines Report for the baseball card taking place on Monday, August 22. Read on to get his expert opinion.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Cincinnati Reds
The early returns sure appear to be positive on Homer Bailey since returning the Cincinnati Reds rotation coming off the DL. Bailey has been magnificent in B2B starts against Milwaukee and Miami with a single earned run allowed in 11 innings with a 17-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio with the Reds emerging victorious in both games. Cincinnati is 6-2 in Bailey’s last 8 starts against the LA Dodgers and I expect Bailey to keep his recent surge going in this game.

The LA Dodgers will send veteran lefty Scott Kazmir to the mound and he’s had an up and down season for LA but he is not an innings eater failing to pitch beyond the 6th inning in five straight starts which could be trouble here with a Dodgers bullpen that has been taxed in recent games with their starters only lasting into the 6th inning in five straight games in as many days. Kazmir has a 4.77 road ERA which is mediocre and he has struggled in daytime games this season entering this contest with a 6.48 ERA in 5 daytime starts allowing 18 runs on 25 hits in 25 innings and the LA Dodgers have a losing record of 2-3 in those games. Kazmir has allowed at least one home run in 7 of his last 8 starts which is not a good sign coming into a hitters paradise like Great American Ballpark.

The LA Dodgers are 5-5 in their last 10 games while Cincinnati is 6-4 in their last 10 games which tells you the short term difference between these two teams has been negligible. There is legitimate value with the Reds as home underdogs right now and I’ll back them to get the victory in early start action on Monday afternoon.
