Our MLB professional handicapper is 22-13 with his last 35 underdog picks, and is coming off a 3-0 sweep on Thursday. Go inside to get his two top underdog picks on Saturday’s card.

Kansas City Royals (Kennedy) vs. Cleveland Indians (Tomlin) 7:15 PM ET
By virtue of their 6-1 loss to Cleveland last night, Kansas City has now dropped two games in a row. However, the Royals are 6-1 in its last seven following a loss, and 45-24 since 2014 after losing each of their previous two games. That speaks to the character and resiliency of this team over the past couple of seasons, and certainly bodes well for underdog betting value.

Veteran right-handed Royals hurler Ian Kennedy has displayed very good form over his last three starts, posting a stellar 2.40 ERA, and Kansas City went 3-0 in those games. Kennedy also has an impressive 1.18 WHIP during six road starts in 2016. Finally, he made one start (5/7) versus Cleveland this year, allowed 0 earned runs on 4 hits in 7.0 innings of work, and it resulted in a 7-0 Kansas City win.

Josh Tomlin has been an extremely profitable pitcher thus far in 2016. Cleveland has gone 8-1 in games in which Tomlin was their starter. It must be noted, since 2012 he’s made seven starts versus Kansas City, and compiled an uninspiring 6.18 ERA during those appearances.

Seattle Mariners (Karns) vs. Texas Rangers (Perez) 9:05 PM ET
There’s a ton of foundational home underdog betting value for Texas in this matchup. Let me touch upon some the more pertinent ones supporting that notion. This is a Texas team that’s 32-22 (.593) overall, 19-9 (.679) at home, and 24-14 (.632) when facing right-handed starting pitchers. Additionally, since 2015, the Rangers are an outstanding 58-37 (.611) against teams with a winning record, and that includes 26-14 (.650) versus opponents with a win percentage of .540 to .620. Seattle certainly qualifies in the regard based on their current .574 win percentage.

Texas southpaw starter Martin Perez has pitched very well in six home starts thus far, posting an impressive 2.23 ERA and 1.14 WHIP during those outings. Perez has made three starts at home in his career against Seattle, and compiled a stellar 2.45 ERA.

Seattle has gone a superb 23-14 versus right-handed starting pitchers this year. Contrarily, they’re just 8-9 versus southpaws, and had a poor .291 OBP in those games which is well below its season average. Mariner starter Nate Karns has been rock solid for Seattle so far in 2016. Even so, he’ll never be mistaken for Clayton Kershaw or Jake Arietta as being one of the dominating starting pitchers in all of baseball.

At this juncture, I’m extremely confident there’s been a strong case made for the home underdog, and that will be one of my Saturday MLB picks.
