MLB analyst Ross Benjamin provides a betting preview on Wednesday's Giants-Diamondbacks matchup. Refrain from making a move on this game without first reading his free MLB pick.

San Francisco Giants At Arizona Diamondbacks

San Francisco and Arizona will play their third of a 4-game series on Wednesday night. The opening pitch from Chase Field in Phoenix is slated for 9:40 PM ET. These NL West rivals have split the first 2 games of the series with Arizona winning 6-5 on Monday and San Francisco coming out on top 8-4 Tuesday. The Giants have gone a dominating 16-5 at Arizona since 2015. At the time of this writing, MLB betting odds indicate that San Francisco ranges from a -115 to -123 moneyline favorite, and there’s a posted total of 9.5.

Diamondbacks Gamble On Taijuan Walker

Arizona made what can be perceived as a risky trade with Seattle this past offseason. The Diamondbacks traded second basemen Jean Segura in exchange for 24-year-old right-handed starting pitcher Taijuan Walker. All Segura did for Arizona last season is bang out 202 hits, including 20 home runs, and hit a stellar .319.

Walker is slated to make his Diamondbacks debut this evening. Although his career pitching numbers are a bit underwhelming, the hard-throwing hurler has exhibited plenty of promise. Walker is 22-22 with a 4.18 ERA in 62 career MLB starts, and all of those came with Seattle. He made his first MLB start in 2013 as a 21-year-old touted prospect.

Giants Looking For Big Year From Moore

Southpaw Matt Moore makes his first start of the 2017 season. San Francisco acquired Moore from Tampa Bay at least season’s trade deadline. Moore was 13-12 in 33 starts divided between the Rays and Giants in 2016. The Giants are hoping that Moore can regain the form he displayed in 2013 while going 17-4 with a 3.29 ERA for Tampa Bay. Moore made 3 starts against Arizona a season ago and compiled a 3.72 ERA

Final Thoughts & Pick

Moore wasn’t sharp in his 6 starts during spring training. He posted a lofty 5.60 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. Conversely, Walker had a solid spring training in which he made 7 starts, posted a very respectable 3.29 ERA while striking out 32 in 27 1/3 innings of work. Furthermore, Walker made 4 starts for Seattle last April and collected a dominating 1.44 ERA while doing so. I’m going with the home underdog for one of my Wednesday MLB picks.
