With the Cubs’ John Lackey allowing 1 ER in his last start and the Brewers’ Chase Anderson allowing 0 in his, and the 'Under' an impressive 51-22-3 the L76 Cubs games at historic Wrigley Field, backing the it once again seems prudent advice in this series opener at Clark and Addison on Monday.

Offshore sportsbooks have Chicago steep -195 favorites (BookMaker), the Total at 7½u -120 (BetOnline) with the Run Line market offering the Cubs -1½ +110 with the Brewers +1½ -130 (BetDSI).  The Brewers are scheduled to send Jimmy Nelson to the mound Tuesday (8:05 p.m. ET) against the Cubs  Brett Anderson, while Milwaukee will start Tommy Milone vs. the Cubs' Kyle Hendricks in Game 3 on Wednesday (2:20 p.m. ET).

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers (225/1 to win World Series, Heritage) and 1B Eric Thames (.382, 5 HRs, 10 RBI have been playing some good baseball in their L2 series, going 5-1 L6 into Monday and outscoring foes 30-17 with a 7-5 setback at Cincinnati the team’s only loss. In Game 4 against Cincinnati on Sunday, Brewers (7-5) skipper Craig Counsell had a starting Lineup of: 2B Franklin, 1B Thames, LF Braun, RF Pérez, C  Piña, CF Nieuwenhuis, SS O Arcia with RHP Wily Peralta getting the start.

Milwaukee (100/1 to win NL, Bovada) is 5-1 L6 Road games vs. a RHP Starter -- winning Sunday vs. the Reds’ Sal Romano -- but 4-12 L16 Anderson Road Starts. The Over is 4-1 L5 Milwaukee Mondays and 4-1 vs. the NL Central while the Under is 9-3-1 Anderson’s L13 Grass Starts and 6-2 L8 Brewers Road games.

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs (+450 to win World Series, Bovada) have looked below average so far during this 9-game opening Homestand (LAD-PIT-MIL), going 2-4 after Sunday’s 6-1 loss in the series finale vs. Pittsburgh. And again, the Cubs had no batters in their starting lineup hitting over .300. In Game 3 Sunday, Chicago manager Joe Maddon had a Starting Lineup of: LF Schwarber, 3B Bryant, 1B Rizzo, RF Zobrist, SS Russell, CF J Heyward, C Contreras, SP Jon Lester with 2B Báez again batting 9th.

Chicago (+175 to win NL, Bovada) is 58-22 L80 Game 1’s, 49-20-2 L71 vs. RHP Starters, 69-28 L97 at Wrigley Field vs. RHP and 39-17 L56 Home overall. The Under is 6-0 in Lackey’s L6 Game 1 Starts, 51-22-3 L76 Cubs Home games (69%) while the Over is 6-1-1 L8 Lackey Starts.

Chicago Weather, Series & Side Totals

TWC forecast for Chicago for Monday is calling for Clear skies, a chilly Low of 42° with 5-10 mph NE Winds. The 'Over' is 3-1-1- L5 series meetings in the Windy City and 7-3-1 L11 meetings overall while the now-.500 Cubs (6-6) are a dominating 25-10 the L35 meetings and 20-8 L28 on the North Side.

Anderson pitched brilliantly in his last start against the Reds, allowing 3 Hits and 1 ER, while Lackey (7-4, 2.62 ERA at Wrigley in 2016) held LA to just 1 Run while scattering 4 Hits over 6 IP but still took the loss in a 2-0 Dodgers win. With the 'Under' so strong in Wrigleyville (50-22-3, 5-1 L6) and Anderson and Lackey (retired 14 of L15 batters) in good form, the Under is the MLB Pick.
