The Royals and Cubs complete a rain-shortened two-game series at Wrigley Field Sunday afternoon. Will you bet on KC completing the sweep? Or will the Cubbies salvage a split?
Royals-Cubs Sunday Betting Odds
In the early MLB odds, Chicago and lefty Tsuyoshi Wada were chalked at around -150 over KC and Yordano Ventura.
KC took the opener of this Midwestern inter-league series Friday night 8-4; Saturday's game was rained out, and will be made up in September.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Royals. Chicago, meanwhile, is 4-7 over its last 11 games.
On a personnel note KC may have Alex Rios back in the lineup Sunday, after he missed six weeks with a broken bone in his hand.
Wada (0-0, 2.70) owns two decent outings since rejoining the team a couple weeks ago, but he's also been on a short leash. First he gave up two runs in 4 2/3 innings against San Diego, with nine strikeouts, and Monday he held Washington to one run through 5 1/3 innings. The Cubs beat the Padres that day 3-2 but lost to the Nats 2-1.
Ventura (3-4, 4.64) is a bit of a puzzler; he can look good, and he can be hit. Last Sunday he gave up four runs in seven innings against St. Louis; just before that he threw seven scoreless innings against Cincinnati; but just before that he gave up five runs in seven innings against Texas. On the season he's allowed at least four runs in five of his nine starts.
Kansas City has lost four of Ventura's last five starts.
Note before placing your MLB pick that neither of Sunday's starters has ever faced Sunday's opponents before.

The Royals rank as one of the best lineups in baseball this season against left-handed pitching, and they own one of the best bullpens. We like KC. Also, Cubs home games this season are 15-7 on the UNDERS, averaging a shade under seven runs per.
