Left-hander Chris Sale (10-3, 2.77 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) takes the hill for the Red Sox after winning his second straight start. Sale gave up just one earned run on four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings in Monday's 4-1 victory over the Twins. Sale is averaging an impressive 12.3 strikeouts per nine innings (K/9) and he leads the American League with 113 2/3 innings pitched, 155 strikeouts and an 0.91 WHIP, he is second with 10 wins and third with a 2.77 ERA.

Francisco Liriano (4-3, 5.46 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) will get the ball for the Blue Jays after a dominant outing against the Royals last Sunday, when he allowed just two earned runs on six hits (one home run) and one walk with two strikeouts in six innings of an 8-2 win. Liriano already beat the Red Sox this season, throwing 5 1/3 scoreless innings but he has a 4.06 ERA in six home starts and he has surrendered at least one home run in five of his last seven starts. Sale pitched eight scoreless innings in his only start against the Blue Jays this season and I don't see his dominance stopping here. I'm taking the Red Sox -1.5 at +100 MLB odds.

Giants vs. Pirates

Matt Moore (3-8, 6.04 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) will start for the Giants after giving up five earned runs on seven hits (two home runs) and three walks with five strikeouts in just 4 1/3 innings of an 8-2 loss against the Mets last Sunday. It was the second time in three starts that Moore has lasted less than five innings and he has allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last five starts.

Chad Kuhl (2-6, 5.58 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) will make his 16th start of the season for the Pirates. The right-hander hasn't pitched more than five innings in any of his last 10 starts, including last Sunday's outing, when he allowed four earned runs on eight hits (one home run) and one walk with six strikeouts to get a no-decision in an 8-4 loss against the Cardinals. I'm looking at Over 9.5 (+105) for my MLB picks. The total is high but Moore is just 1-4 with an 8.39 ERA in nine road starts and Kuhl is 1-4 with a 7.36 ERA in eight home starts.
