We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Sunday's games and offer two selections to maximize your profits and end the week on a winning note.

Phillies vs. Mets

Right-hander Nick Pivetta (1-4, 5.40 ERA, 1.67 WHIP) takes the hill for the Phillies after having his worst outing of the season, when he gave up six earned runs on seven hits and five walks with three strikeouts in just 2 2/3 innings of a 6-1 loss against the Diamondbacks last Monday. Pivetta is winless since June 5 and he's just 1-3 with a 6.67 ERA in six road starts.

Rafael Montero (1-4, 5.63 ERA, 1.94 WHIP) will get the ball for the Mets after a dominant effort against the Giants on Sunday, when he allowed just one earned run on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of an 8-2 win against the Giants, but he's just 0-3 with a 7.58 ERA in nine home appearances (two starts).

I'm looking at Over 9 at -101 MLB odds here because Pivetta is really struggling and I have no reason to believe that Montero can have back-to-back solid starts.

Yankees vs. Astros

Luis Severino (5-3, 3.15 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) will start for the Yankees after having one of his best performances of the season on Tuesday, when he gave up just one earned run on six hits and zero walks with 12 strikeouts in seven innings to get a no-decision in 4-3 loss against the White Sox. Severino is winless in his last three starts but he's 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA in eight road starts.

Mike Fiers (5-3, 3.98 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) will make his 16th start of the season for the Astros. The right-hander struggled against the Athletics last Tuesday, when he allowed four earned runs on four hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings of a 6-4 loss.

Fiers is just 1-3 with a 3.16 ERA in seven home starts and he gave up four earned runs on four hits (two home runs) in 5 2/3 innings to get a no-decision in his only start against the Yankees. I'm taking the Yankees with my MLB picks because their potent lineup has proven it can get to Fiers.
