Carlos Martínez and the Cardinals face Shelby Miller and the Diamondbacks on Tuesday in Game 2 of this 4-game series from Chase Field in Phoenix. Read on for a profitable MLB Pick for this game.

MLB Record: Week: 0-0 / Prev. Week: 3-0 / Season: 9-5

Miller has been shaky his last couple of outings and the Snakes could really use a good start from the newly acquired Righty, but with the way the Cardinals have been hitting and their recent success against Arizona here in the Desert, the onus (and Pressure) here really seems to be on the Hosts. Let’s look at the L10 meetings from this series, some general Side and Totals Trends and provide a couple of MLB picks for our loyal Sportsbook Review information hounds.

Odds Overview
St. Louis Cardinals at Arizona Diamondbacks [Wednesday 02:40] (Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports-Arizona, MLB Extra Innings, Directv 219, Directv 686 (US), 9:40 p.m. EDT/6:40 p.m. PDT): Game 2 of this 4-game NL series sees the host Arizona Diamondbacks (10-10, 3-7 Home) sending RHP Shelby Miller (0-1, 8.59 ERA) to the Hill against RHP Carlos Martínez (3-0, 2.70 ERA, 16 Ks) and the visiting St. Louis Cardinals (10-8, 5-4 Road) on Tuesday night at Chase Field. Offshore Oddsmakers in Antigua have the Cardinals opening up as respectable -130 Road favorites with the host Diamondbacks lined at +120 as the Home Underdogs (at Sportsbetting). The Total (Runs) opened at 8½ Under -110 (also at Sportsbetting) but moved to 9 Under -120 Faster Than a Runaway Train with the Sharps sopping it (the 8½’s) up like gravy with a big Wiseguy biscuit. The Run Line MLB odds in this game see St. Louis -1½ priced at +120 with hosts Arizona +1½ lined at -140 (Sportsbetting). The Diamondbacks and No. 1 starter Zack Greinke—another Offseason Pitching Staff acquisition—are currently (Monday morning) -116 favorites in Game 1 on Monday night (Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook) over the Cardinals and Probable Starting Pitcher Jaime García with the Total at 7½, Over 115.

St. Louis Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals (+2200 to win World Series at BetVictor) and Manager Mike Matheny seem like they currently may have some Futures Book value at that lofty (high) +2200 price, with the San Francisco Giants (9-11) struggling and the Redbirds one team in the NL unafraid of the now mighty Chicago Cubs (14-5), who look poised to make their own run at the NL Pennant. On Sunday, the Cardinals (111 RF-71 RA) won their 2nd straight game and improved to 10-8 with an 8-5 win over the Padres in San Diego as Jedd Gyorko completed a super series (6-11, 2 HRs, 3B, 4 RBI, 3 Runs) against his former teammates, going 3-for-5 with a HR, Triple and Single in the victory, which gave St. Louis the series win, 2-1 (Game 1: SD 4-1, Game 2: STL 11-2). The Cardinals traded Jon Jay to the Padres for Gyorko (in December) and the 2B is a Young player to keep your eye on as is his St. Louis teammate, Rookie SS Aledmys Díaz (.480) who also homered in Sunday’s victory in San Diego. Matheny’s Starting Lineup Card on Sunday read: 3B Matt Carpenter, RF Stephen Piscotty, 1B Brandon Moss, CF Randal Grichuk, C Yadier Molina, LF Jeremy Hazelbaker, 2B Jedd Gyorko, SS Aledmys Díaz with Mike Leake getting the start. Along with Gyorko and Cuban Díaz, Grichuk also had 3 Hits as St. Louis (9-9 Run Line) pounded out 14 Hits against poor Padres Pitchers and one in which the visitors never trailed after jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead in the Top of the 1st Inning.

Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks (+2900 to win World Series at NetBet) and Manager Chip Hale actually played Tuesday’s Probable Starter Shelby Miller in LF in the Extra Innings of a 12-10 Loss at Home at at Chase Field in their last game on Sunday as Arizona fell to the .500 mark (10-10) and was dealt a swift dose of Reality after feeling so Delirious after sweeping Giants in Frisco. In his Starting Lineup, Manager Hale—who used everyone in Maricopa County, 7 random Fans from the Stands and Diamondbacks mascot D. Baxter the Bobcat—had 2B Jean Segura, RF Brandon Drury, 1B Paul Goldschmidt, LF Yasmany Tomas, C Wellington Castro, 3B Philip Gosselin, SS Nick Ahmed and CF Chris Owings with Robbie Ray getting the Start but only going 3 Innings and allowing 5 Runs, 4 of them Earned at the Indoors setting on Sunday with the Retractable Roof closed, but not by the order of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. The Loss gave the Pirates the series win (2-1) after Pittsburgh took Game 1 (8-7) on Friday and Arizona won Game 2 (7-1) on Saturday.

Tuesday’s Probable Starting Pitchers and Who Has Hit Well Against Them
Like Monday’s starter Arizona Zack Greinke (1-2, 5.25 ERA, 1.42 WHIP), Tuesday night’s projected Arizona Starter RHP Shelby Miller (0-1, 8.59 ERA) seemed like a great acquisition for Diamondbacks General Manager Dave Stewart his Offseason, but now the Pressure will start to mount after disappointing Starts and Arizona is really lucky the San Francisco Giants (9-11) are scuffling now (the Diamondbacks 4-game sweep of the Giants last week was their first ever). But Greinke and Miller were thought to be the new blood this Arizona Pitching Staff so desperately needed and the big money was spent and some players were dealt, so the Pressure is really on here for Diamondbacks GM Stewart and No. 1 and No. 2 Starters Greinke and Miller, as well as Arizona’s Relief Pitchers, who have also been pretty suspect. The Snakes need a great Start from much-hyped prospect Miller here on Tuesday, but this is a bad spot for him against a versatile Cardinals Roster and spacious Chase Field is very friendly to opposing Offenses. Because he is so Young, there isn’t a great body of work from Cardinals Hitters against Miller but Gyorko is 2-for-6 with a HR and 2 RBI in 6 ABs, so expect him to start and get on a couple of times and raise some Basepath Hell for the visitors. St. Louis will be giving the pill to Dominican RHP Carlos Martínez (3-0, 2.70 ERA, 16 Ks), and, so far so good with Martínez (1.00 WHIP) going at least 6 IP in all 3 Starts and holding the Cubs to just 1 Run in 7 IP in his last start last Wednesday and Arizona slugger Goldschmidt is hitting just .143 against Martínez (7 ABs). The 24-year-old Martínez (6-1, 191) is a young Pitcher to watch and the Cardinals are a perfect 5-0 in his L5 Starts, 4-0 in his L4 Road Starts and 25-7 in his L32 Starts on Grass (78.1%).

Series Trends, Overall Team Trends and Streaks, Thoughts and Game Picks
Arizona is actually playing better over the L10 games (7-3 vs. 6-4) than St. Louis is, but much of that luster came from a 4-game Sweep of the Giants in San Francisco last week and the 3-7 Home Record to start the season for the Diamondbacks really sticks out, as do the April Pitching Starts of Greinke and Miller. In the L10 meetings in this series (heading into Monday’s Game 1), the Cardinals are a dominating 9-1, have W8 straight including W5 straight here at Chase Field, outscoring the hosts, 23-8. So, monster psychological edge St. Louis here. A purple plethora of Trends for your consumption: The Cardinals are 5-1 L6 Road and 5-1 the L6 (and 10-4 the L14) against RHP starters and 9-2 the L11 against the NL West. St. Louis is just 2-8 in their L10 Game 2’s of a series and with Arizona 6-0 their L6 Tuesdays, it seems the Day of the Week favors Arizona. But Arizona is a paltry 2-12 its L16 against the NL Central and the Diamondbacks are just 17-35 their L52 at Home against teams with a Winning Record and 16-38 their L54 against a Pitcher with a WHIP under 1.15 (Martínez, 1.00). The numbers point to the Redbirds.

And the two seemingly most powerful Trends or Realities heading into Game 2 are the Cardinals 5-0 record at Arizona the L5 (heading into Monday) and St. Louis’s Runs For-Runs Against (6.44 RF-4.33 RA) average to date compared to Arizona’s (5.70 RF-6.80 RA). It seemed about 10 days ago that maybe Arizona would be major player in the NL (Diamondbacks +1200 to win NL at William Hill) this 2016 MLB Regular Season, but even though it’s still only April, a 10-10 mark and a 6.80 average Runs Against are not the numbers of a potential future champion and the Rattlesnakes really need to win three of the four games in this series against St. Louis (+1250 to win NL at bet365) to get some Momentum and their heads right. But with a dismal 3-7 Home Record, just the opposite—the Redbirds taking three of four—may end up happening here. Watch. The Snakes (9-11 Run Line) will need a super start and at least 6 good Innings from Miller here and with so much Pressure on and that Cardinals lineup pecking away for 9 innings in Phoenix, the visitors are the Side pick and with Grichuk, Gyorko and Díaz hitting, if guys like Carpenter, Moss, Molina, Hazelbaker, Piscotty and Matt Adams can get their share of Hits here, the visitors from the Gateway City may almost go Over the posted Total themselves here in the Valley of the Sun and St. Louis could get to a shaky Miller fairly early on. Final Score Prediction: Cardinals 7 Diamondbacks 4
