Boston Red Sox vs. Kansas City Royals
This is a very simplistic ‘hot vs. not’ scenario taking place here as the Red Sox and Royals begin a series on Monday night. The red hot team is Boston who have won six of their last seven games while crushing the baseball in the process as the Red Sox have scored a whopping 65 runs in their last 7 games.

That figures to be trouble for struggling Royals starter Yordano Ventura who has not been sharp in his last three starts allowing 13 runs on 15 hits and has issued 14 walks in his last 14 innings of work as he is battling with control and command difficulties. On the flip side, Rick Porcello will be on the mound for Boston and he has been much better of late and carries some strong current form into this game, as the MLB odds show.

Porcello has a 2.61 ERA in his last three starts surrendering 6 runs in his last 20.2 innings of work and now will face a scuffling Royals lineup that has been held to 4 runs or less in six of their last ten games. Boston is a favorite on the road over the defending World Series champions for a reason--they are the better and hotter team right now and should enjoy the starting pitching edge here with Porcello over Ventura.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Toronto Blue Jays
We posted a rock solid winner in support of J.A. Happ in his last start for the Toronto Blue Jays last week in San Francisco and this undervalued lefty is once again providing solid value on Monday night as a short home favorite as the Blue Jays host the Rays. Happ has been a model of consistency allowing 3 runs or less in all seven of his starts with Toronto notching a strong 5-2 record in Happ’s 7 starts this season.

Drew Smyly will get the nod for Tampa Bay and the Rays lefty is coming off his worst start of the season against Seattle in which he got lit up for 6 runs on 10 hits in 5 innings including a pair of home runs which is a red flag as he faces the Jays power laden lineup in a hitter friendly setting like the Rogers Centre.

Tampa Bay suffered a crushing defeat in their weekend series finale against Oakland leading most of the game and losing it late by a score of 7-6 it was a tough day for their bullpen which has been very erratic early in the season. Toronto is a perfect 3-0 at home with Happ on the mound this season and this price is reasonable with the Blue Jays to continue their winning ways with J.A. Happ on the mound, so we'll take them as one of our MLB picks.
