We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Friday's stacked card. Read on for two selections on American League games that will maximize your profits at the start of the weekend.

Angels vs. Red Sox

Right-hander Alex Meyer (3-3, 3.52 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) takes the hill for the Angels after pitching six scoreless innings in a 9-0 win against the Royals on Saturday. Meyer surrendered just two hits and finished with nine strikeouts and one walk and now he's given up three earned runs or less in eight of his nine starts and two earned runs or less in five of his last six starts.

Rick Porcello (3-9, 5.05 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) will get the ball for the Red Sox after losing his last four decisions, including last Saturday's 7-1 setback against the Astros, when he allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits and one walk with three strikeouts in six innings. The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner has an ugly 5.05 ERA and he's just 2-5 with a poor 5.40 ERA in eight home starts. The Angels are still without Mike Trout but I just can't back the Red Sox with Porcello on the mound. I'm taking the Angels at +149 MLB odds.

Twins vs. Indians

Adalberto Mejia (1-3, 5.53 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) will start for the Twins after losing his last two starts, including last Saturday's outing against the Indians, when he gave up two earned runs on five hits (two home runs) with three walks and three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings of a 6-2 setback. Mejia is just 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA in three road starts and 0-2 with a 5.55 ERA in five night starts.

Trevor Bauer (6-5, 5.54 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) will make his 15th start of the season for the Indians. The right-hander was dominant against the Twins last Sunday, allowing just two earned runs on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in seven innings of a 5-2 win. Bauer has given up just four earned runs in 12 2/3 innings over his last two starts and he's 3-0 with a 3.26 ERA in three starts against the Twins this season. I like Bauer to continue his dominance against Minnesota so I'm adding Cleveland -179 to my MLB picks.
