Two veteran pitchers take the mound today when Twins visit the Tigers. Neither has had a good season and MLB odds have set this total quite high, perhaps a little bit TOO high.

Minnesota Twins vs Detroit Tigers
Oddsmakers have set the total for this game at 10 with the over +104 at Pinnacle. Just looking at the starting pitchers ERA this makes sense so for my MLB pick I am going to back the over as I believe we are going to see a high-scoring affair. Neither pitcher has shown the capability of keeping runs off the board so look for both teams to score and score often today. Checking the Over on MLB Odds, it seems that we might have a good solid pick in our hands.

Minnesota Twins
Tommy Milone takes the mound for Minnesota and comes in with a 5.23 ERA and 1.57 WHIP with the Twins hitting .251 as a team which ranks 18th in the major leagues. For being as bad as they are Minnesota actually, has a bit of pop in their lineup and rank in around the middle of the league in most categories highlighted by ranking 13th in total bases and 15th in slugging. Milone has been less than stellar this season but looking at his last 10 starts he has been somewhat okay allowing just five earned runs in one of those appearances at Chicago. In his last two starts, he has pitched well allowing just three total earned runs off of 10 total hits and 11 innings. However, that being said the issue to go against him and the Minnesota pitching staff today is twofold. First of all, Milone has allowed runs consistently over those last 10 games over a short amount of work averaging around four innings per appearance. Which leads to my second point, most likely because he does not go deep into ballgames Detroit is going to get a lot of at-bats against one of the worst relief staffs in the American League. Expect the Tigers to put up more than their fair share of runs today.

Click Here For Our Sports Betting Sites Ratings Guide

Detroit Tigers
Anibal Sanchez comes in with a 6.75 ERA and 1.65 WHIP with some well-documented troubles this season on the mound. He has been a shadow of himself when he joined the Tigers and has not found any consistency pitching this season. He was taken out of the starting rotation but then put back in to fill some gaps which have not gone well as he allowed 12 earned runs over eight innings in his last two starts. Sanchez has mentioned that it has been a mental battle for him but it actually goes a bit beyond that. According to Fan Graphs, his velocity is down on all his pitches from last season and that was a season in which he led the American League in home runs allowed. At the plate Detroit has been one of the better teams in all the major leagues so I expect them, as mentioned, to score a lot today. Currently, they rank sixth, seventh, eighth, and tenth in batting average, hits, OPS, and runs per game respectively.

Free MLB Pick: Over the total of 10 -100
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2991871, "sportsbooksIds":[169,238,1096,93,626], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
