Our resident MLB handicapping professional shares his two top totals selections of the day. Read his analysis pertaining to totals on games between Pittsburgh/Minnesota and Cincinnati/St. Louis.

Pirates (Morton) vs. Twins (Pelfrey) 8:10 PM ET
Charlie Morton is in terrible form over his previous six starts, posting a large 7.76 ERA and 1.63 WHIP during that time. Morton has also struggled in his five road starts this season, evidenced by a sizable 7.81 ERA in those outings.

Mike Pelfrey has been extremely shaky over his last five starts, posting a 6.84 ERA and mammoth 2.01 WHIP. The Twins have gone over the total in their last three and five of their previous six home games. They’ve hit 53 of their 88 home runs at home this season. They’re also averaging 4.9 runs per game and have a solid .279 team batting average at Target Field in 2015. Minnesota has allowed an average of 6.0 runs per game over the last seven contests.

I like this game to be a high scoring affair for one of my MLB picks today. Pinnacle has the cheapest price in that regard.

MLB Picks: Play on Pirates and Twins Over 9.0 (-114) at Pinnacle.

Reds (Leake) vs. Cardinals (Garcia) 8:15 PM ET
Mike Leake has been a bear over his last three starts, posting a dominating 0.82 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, and compiling a 6:1 strikeout to walk ratio. In nine road starts this season, the Reds right-handed hurler has a stellar 2.57 ERA and 0.89 WHIP.

Jaime Garcia returns from the disabled list and will look to pick up where he left off. In seven starts this season, the Cardinals southpaw has a brilliant 1.69 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and a near 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio. He’s been especially good over his previous three starts with a microscopic 0.43 ERA. The Cardinals are 34-14-2 under the MLB odds total at home this season, and are allowing an average of only 2.6 runs per game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

This has all the signs of a good old fashioned pitching duel. One of my MLB picks picks today will be indicative of that outlook. The MLB betting odds at Pinnacle provides us with a favorable price for this wager.

MLB Picks: Play on the Reds and Cardinals under 7.5 (-113)
