Let us guide you through the MLB slate for Tuesday with a little bit of analysis as we think that we can provide the betting public with a nice profit with our MLB Picks of the Day.

New York Mets at Pittsburgh Pirates Game 2 of the Doubleheader
Anytime that you have an opportunity to grab Jacob deGrom and an a New York Mets team at even MLB Odds basically to a team that they have a better record than, this is a solid opportunity to make some money. The Mets, who reached the World Series last season, haven't measured up to last year's standards as they're currently 31-24, but this is still an elite baseball team. With Matt Harvey starting to pitch well again, the Mets pitching staff is the best in baseball and Jacob deGrom (3-1, 2.62 ERA) is the anchor of this pitching staff. deGrom has had a few issues off the field earlier in the season with his newborn, but look for him to pick up the pace the rest of the way as the Mets are missing David Wright and Lucas Duda offensively. Basically, the pitching staff needs to keep carrying this squad.

New York has had a day to rest. In fact, both teams have had an extra day off due to a weather postponement. The Mets, who are 2 games behind the Washington Nationals in the National League East Division, are coming off of taking 2 out of 3 games from the Miami Marlins. This is a team hasn't played at full capacity and still has the ability to keep up with the Nats.

Neil Walker
One player to keep an eye on will be Neil Walker as he'll get the opportunity to play his former team and the Mets really need his bat in this lineup with Wright out and Michael Conforto slumping.

For the season. Walker has done the job and showed a bit of extra pop in his bat. He currently is batting .279 with 13 HR and 25 RBI. On several occasions, Walker has come up with a big hit to save the day for New York and I expect him to play well in this series. In his last 6 games, Walker is 8 for 25 with 2 HR and 3 RBI. He's also hit safely in 6 out of his last 7 games. His numbers would be greater, but the Mets need for guys to get on base for this clutch player to drive them in. He's a key ingredient to a win tonight and in this series in general.

For the Pittsburgh Pirates, they're used to being in 2nd place in the NL Central Division. Only usually to the St. Louis Cardinals and not to the Chicago Cubs by 10 games. The Pirates might have to look for a wild card spot this season.

The Pirates are a very deep baseball team. Even with Andrew McCutchen off to a slow start (.250), the Pirates are led by Starling Marte (5 HR, 21 RBI, .326 BA), and Gregory Polanco (9 HR, 38 RBI, .308 BA). deGrom will have his hands full with this offense and he'll need to be picture perfect considering the poor play by his offense.

Houston Astros at Texas Rangers
While the Houston Astros (28-31) have finally started to wake up, winning 8 out of their last 10 games, they also face another team in the Texas Rangers (35-22), who have been unstoppable. The Rangers have won 4 straight games along with going 8-2 in their last 10 games also. This game sets up to be a pitcher's duel if Dallas Keuchel (3-7, 5.50 ERA) can get his act together as he's been a huge disappointment for the Astros this season.

This is a guy  thst won 20 games last season and tonight he'll have to be at his best as he faces veteran Cole Hamels (5-1, 3.39 ERA). Hamels has received run support from his team, but has also held up his end of the bargain as the Rangers know that they're always going to get a strong effort from Hamels anytime that he takes the mound.

Two Studs
These two teams faced eachother yesterday and Texas came out on top 6-5 in a hard fought battle. For the Rangers, Nomar Mazara was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate and for the Astros, superstar, Jose Altuve, was 3 for 5 with a home run and 3 RBI's. These players are the real standouts on their respective teams as Mazara is having an amazing season, hitting .319 with 10 HR and 27 RBI while we expect the experienced 5 foot 6 Jose Altuve to play well every season as he's an elite player in the MLB.  I expect both of these players to play well in this game, but the challenge will be greater as the level of pitching is at a much higher level.

Getting back to Dallas Keuchel, he's really the deciding factor in this game as he's had a tough season thus far. Keuchel has had an especially rough time against the Texas Rangers. He's carryng a 9.75 ERA against Texas, allowing 13 runs and 22 hits in just 12 innings. Keuchel has also pitched poorly on the road with a 5.93 ERA. Despite these numbers, for my MLB Pick I like the Under the total in this game as I think it's placed a bit high at 9.
