Our very own MLB handicapping professional provides us with his two best totals for Tuesday. Join us in reading this intriguing betting article that includes analysis pertaining to the totals in the games between Oakland/San Diego and Toronto/New York Mets.

A’s (Kazmir) vs. Padres (Cashner) 3:40 PM ET
If you look at Scott Kazmir’s overall numbers this season, they appear to be very impressive. However, after examining his 2015 resume a bit more, I found he’s been excellent at home, and less than stellar on the road. As a matter of fact, the veteran southpaw hurler has gone 0-3 in his last three starts on the road, posting a terrible 6.07 ERA and large 1.84 WHIP in those outings.

The Padres Andrew Cashner has displayed horrible form over his previous three starts, posting a huge 8.47 ERA, 2.06 WHIP, and all three games went over the total. Cashner has also gone 4-1 over the total in his starts during day games.

Both of these teams have cashed in at a high rate this season on going over the number. Oakland is 38-24-1 over the total, and San Diego has gone 41-24-1 in that regard. The Padres have amassed 10 hits or more in 8 of their last 10 games. Both bullpen staffs have been shaky this year. Oakland has a bullpen ERA on the road of 5.57, and the Padres bullpen at home has a collective ERA of 4.49.

My lean is toward a high scoring affair in this matinee game, and my MLB picks on Tuesday will be reflective of that prediction. After examining the prices on this total, I opted to place my wager at 5Dimes.

MLB Pick: Oakland and San Diego over 6.5 (-115) at 5Dimes.

Blue Jays (Copeland) vs. Mets (Harvey) 7:10 PM ET
The Mets Matt Harvey doesn’t appear to be 100% healthy of late. When looking at his last four starts it’s easy to arrive at the conclusion. In those outings he’s posted an awful 7.20 ERA. Even more alarming during that terrible stretch, he’s allowed 8 home runs in just 25.0 innings. Putting that into perspective, Harvey allowed only 4 home runs in his first 54 2/3 innings pitched this season.

Toronto was held to 3 runs in yesterday’s extra inning loss to the Mets, and that’s news in of itself. It was just the third time in their last twelve that they were held to less than 7 runs in a game. The Blue Jays hit two more home runs on Monday, and they now have 81 for the season which is third best in all of baseball. Toronto is 19-11-2 over the total in away games this year.

The Mets 4-3 win Monday stayed under the total of 7.5, and it snapped a streak of five games in a row in which they went over the total. New York has gone 28-19-3 over the total when facing a right-handed starting pitcher like they will be today.

I look for these teams to score early and often. After combing the sportsbooks for the best value pertaining to the price on this total, Heritage was clearly my choice.

MLB Pick: Blue Jays and Mets over 7.5 (+105) at Heritage
