It’s a busy Friday on the diamonds as teams switch up and start new series for the weekend. In this MLB picks article, we’ll focus on totals from three separate games on the Friday card.

Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Indians (Friday, 4:05 PM ET)
MLB Odds: Indians -130
The pitching matchup here is Alfredo Simon for Detroit, pitted against Zach McAllister of Cleveland. Simon – as a member of the Cincinnati Reds – threw once against Cleveland last year. It did not go well for him. Simon gave up five runs in five innings for an ERA of nine runs on the nose. McAllister posted a 4.32 ERA against Detroit in four appearances and three starts. He pitched only 16.2 innings total, which means he generally did not go very deep into a game against Detroit. He gave up eight earned runs on 17 hits in those innings, so the Tigers averaged about a hit an inning against him. McAllister might be ordinary against Detroit, but Simon’s track record against Cleveland last year counterbalances that and then some. That means we’re probably going to see some runs in this game, so go over the number in the Indians’ home opener thanks to two subpar pitchers.

MLB Pick: Over 8

Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox (Friday, 4:10 PM ET)
MLB Odds: White Sox -130
Tommy Milone is the starter for Minnesota while Hector Noesi takes the bump for the White Sox. Milone started twice against Chicago last season, and he threw only 9.2 innings. However, in those innings, he wasn’t roughed up. He put together a 3.72 ERA, allowing four runs over those 9.2 innings. He gave up two home runs, so he generally pitched out of trouble when there were runners on base.

Noesi started four times against the Twins. He carded a 4.45 ERA after giving up 26 hits and 14 runs over the course of 28 1 innings pitched.

Neither pitcher is a great pitcher, but Milone – who used to be with the Oakland Athletics and helped that team make the playoffs in the recent past – is a lot better than Noesi, who is below-average and needs to improve in order to justify the White Sox’ faith in him. Regardless of the side, though, betting over the MLB Odds total looks like the best decision here.

MLB Pick: Over 8.5 at Bet365

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers (Friday, 7:10 PM ET)
MLB Odds: Brewers -120
Jeff Locke takes the ball for Pittsburgh, while Mike Fiers gets the call for Milwaukee. Locke posted a tidy 2.25 ERA in three starts versus the Brewers last season. He gave up five runs in 20 innings of work. Over three starts, you can see that Locke was able to get into the seventh inning. Fiers started only once against the Pirates, but he made it count, going seven innings and giving up two runs for a 2.57 ERA. Both pitchers are solid here, so expect a low-scoring game.
