Astros vs. Rangers

Right-hander Justin Verlander (14-8, 3.38 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) takes the hill for the Astros, going for his fifth straight win since joining them. Verlander dominated the Angels last Friday, throwing seven scoreless innings while surrendering just one hit and two walks with six strikeouts in a 3-0 win to improve to 4-0 with an 0.64 ERA in 28 innings over four starts with the Astros.

Nick Martinez (3-7, 5.42 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) starts for the Rangers, trying to avoid losing his fifth straight decision. Martinez allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and one walk with six strikeouts in six innings of a 4-1 loss against the Athletics on Friday, he's just 0-1 with a 7.07 ERA over his last four starts and he's winless since June 25. I like the Astros -1.5 at (-125) MLB odds, Verlander has been unhittable and I just can't go against him right now.

Free MLB Pick: Astros -1.5 (-125)
Best Line Offered: at BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3139780, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,93,238,19,999996], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Giants vs. Diamondbacks

Jeff Samardzija (9-15, 4.51 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) will start for the Giants after suffering his third straight loss last Friday, when he gave up four earned runs on five hits (one home run) and two walks with four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of a 4-2 setback against the Dodgers. Samardzija is just 0-3 with a 6.50 ERA over his last three starts despite a solid 5.67 strikeout-to-walk ratio (K:BB) in 18 innings.

Zack Greinke (17-6, 3.18 ERA, 1.05 WHIP) will make his 32nd start for the Diamondbacks after struggling against the Marlins last Friday, when he allowed eight earned runs on nine hits (three home runs) and two walks with three strikeouts in four innings to get a no-decision in a 13-11 win. It was Greinke's worst start of the season and it snapped a streak of five straight quality starts.

Still, I'll take the Diamondbacks with my MLB picks, Greinke has dominated the Giants this season, going 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA and a 5.33 strikeout-to-walk ratio (K:BB) in three starts and he'll look to build some momentum for the postseason.

Free MLB Pick: Diamondbacks RL
Best Line Offered: the lines were not released at press time

Author's note: The Diamondbacks just pulled Greinke from this game and their new starter is Undecided, but I'll take Arizona on the runline regardless, as Samardzija is 1-3 with a 5.13 ERA in four starts against the Diamondbacks.
