We browse the early odds board in search of MLB betting value on Thursday's card. Read on and find two selections that will maximize your profits before the day's college football games.

White Sox vs. Twins

Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez (7-10, 4.30 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) takes the hill for the White Sox after a solid effort against the Tigers on Friday, when he gave up two earned runs on seven hits with zero walks and nine strikeouts to get a no-decision in a 3-2 win. Gonzalez beat the Twins in his only start against them this season but he's just 3-7 with a 5.29 ERA in 12 road starts.

Bartolo Colon (6-10, 6.35 ERA, 1.63 WHIP) starts for the Twins, looking to win his third straight outing. Colon allowed just one earned run on nine hits (one home run) with one walk and no strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings of a 6-1 victory against the Blue Jays last Friday and he's now 4-1 with a decent 3.21 ERA over his last five starts. I'm taking the Twins at home at -152 MLB odds here.

Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks

Kenta Maeda (12-5, 3.76 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) will start for the Dodgers after giving up one earned run on just one hit (one home run) and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings of a 3-1 win against the Brewers last Friday. It was Maeda's first quality start since August 1 but despite his inconsistency as far as going deep into games, he's 3-1 with a 2.76 ERA over his last five starts and he's been a solid pitcher with a great team behind him.

Zack Greinke (15-6, 3.14 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) will make his 27th start of the season for the Diamondbacks, coming off a strong game against the Giants on Friday, when he allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits with zero walks and four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings of a 4-3 win.

Greinke has struggled when facing the Dodgers this season, going 0-2 with a 6.17 ERA in two starts against them but he's 12-1 with a 2.36 ERA in 15 home starts, throwing quality starts in six consecutive games at Chase Field, posting a 2.14 ERA and a 6.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio (K:BB). I'm looking at Under 9 (-114) for my MLB picks here, as Maeda has been consistent and Greinke is reliable at home.
