We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Sunday's slate. Read on and find two selections to maximize your profits at the end of the week.

Braves vs. Dodgers

Sean Newcomb (1-5, 4.86 ERA, 1.54 WHIP) starts for the Dodgers looking to avoid losing his fourth straight appearance. Newcomb gave up five earned runs on eight hits (two home runs) and three walks with five strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings of a 5-1 loss against the Cubs last Tuesday. This will be Newcomb's first start against the Dodgers but he's 0-3 with an 11.37 ERA over his last three starts, allowing 16 earned runs on 22 hits (three home runs) over 12 2/3 innings of work.

Clayton Kershaw (15-2, 2.07 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) will start for the Dodgers after winning his eight straight start last Tuesday, when he threw seven scoreless innings, surrendering seven hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in a 1-0 victory against the White Sox.

Kershaw leads the National League with 15 wins, a 2.07 ERA and 139 1/3 innings pitched, he ranks second with 166 strikeouts and an 0.89 WHIP and he's 8-1 with a solid 2.45 ERA and one complete game in 11 home starts. I'm taking the Dodgers -1.5 (-179) with my MLB picks here.

White Sox vs. Royals

Derek Holland (5-9, 5.09 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) takes the hill for the White Sox, looking for his first win since June 13. Holland gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings to get a no-decision in a 7-6 loss against the Mariners last Sunday. The left-hander is just 3-5 with a poor 6.31 ERA in 10 road starts.

Travis Wood (1-3, 6.81 ERA, 1.84 WHIP) will take the hill for the Royals after a poor effort in his last start against the Dodgers last Tuesday, when he allowed six earned runs on nine hits (one home run) and zero walks with one strikeout over just 4 1/3 innings of a 9-3 loss. Wood is 0-1 with a 6.45 ERA in 12 home appearances (two starts) and he has a disastrous 12.27 ERA in three appearances against the White Sox this season. I'm taking a contrarian approach and go Under 11 at +102 MLB odds here.
