Right-hander Chris Archer (6-4, 3.88 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) takes the hill for the Rays after winning his second straight start on Friday, when he gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings of a 15-5 win against the Orioles. Archer has failed to post quality starts in two of his last three appearances but he's second in the American League with 126 strikeouts and third with 104 1/3 innings pitched, which means he averages more than a strikeout per inning.

Jameson Taillon (3-2, 3.33 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) will get the ball for the Pirates after a strong outing against the Cardinals last Friday, when he allowed just two earned runs on four hits (one home run) and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings to get a no-decision in a 4-3 win. It was Taillon's third quality start this year and his first since returning from the disabled list on June 12. The right-hander has a decent 3.33 ERA and a 2.56 strikeout-to-walk ratio (K/BB) in 51 1/3 innings. I'm looking at Under 8.5 at -115 MLB odds here, as Archer and Taillon continue to build on their impressive numbers.

Dodgers vs. Angels

Clayton Kershaw (11-2, 2.47 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) will start for the Dodgers after winning his fourth straight start last Saturday, when he threw six scoreless innings, surrendering just four hits and one walk with eight strikeouts in a 4-0 victory against the Rockies. Kershaw leads the National League with 11 wins and he ranks second with 109 1/3 innings pitched, 123 strikeouts, a 2.47 ERA and an 0.92 WHIP and he's 5-1 with a solid 2.05 ERA in seven road starts.

JC Ramirez (7-5, 4.38 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) will make his 18th appearance (15th start) for the Angels. The right-hander was dominant against the Red Sox last Saturday, giving up just one earned run on four hits (one home run) and zero walks with five strikeouts in a 6-3 win, but he's just 1-3 with a 5.10 ERA in eight home appearances (seven starts) and it's hard to bet against Kershaw right now. I'm taking the Dodgers on the runline at -1.5 (-115) with my MLB picks.
