After losing the first three games of the series, I amplacing my MLB pick today on the Colorado Rockies to beat the Miami Marlins on the plus money line.

MLB odds makers have opened this game up at around -130 for the Marlins.

Pitchers
Both pitchers have been solid recently.  Jorge De La Rosa comes in with a 5.53 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, but those numbers are a bit deceiving.  In his last four starts, all wins for the Rockies, he has only allowed eight runs in his last 24 innings pitched.  Dan Haren for the Marlins takes the mound with a 3.12 ERA and WHIP of just above 1.00.  Like De La Rosa he has been really good in his last few starts allowing seven runs in his last 19 innings pitched.  If Haren had to pitch in Colorado his numbers would probably be up, so this pitching matchup is actually pretty even.

Break Out
Getting plus money on a good hitting team like the Rockies is pretty good value despite their recent slump.  On the season they rank 6th in runs scored, 2nd in batting average, and 3rd in slugging.  They are in the top ten or upper half of the league in every major offensive category.  Also they rank 2nd in the league in batting average on balls in play.  The Marlins have had a nice series against the Rockies and rank across the spectrum in statistics from the lower part of the league in runs scored to 8th in batting average.

Once again this is simply good value on a team that has better numbers than it has played recently.  Look for the Rockies to back up a good pitcher like De La Rosa with a solid effort today and avoid the sweep, take the plus money for your underdog MLB pick.
