We have analyzed the MLB odds trading from online sportsbooks and have locked on to a pair of totals for Wednesday night. Let’s cash with both our MLB picks tonight!
7:10 PM EDT Cubs (21-25-4 O/U) vs. Marlins (27-24-2 O/U)
Seven of the last eight Cubs’ games have gone under the posted MLB odds total and tonight they send southpaw Jon Lester (3.30 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) to the bump to secure the rubber game of this three-game set against the Marlins. Lester watched his ERA balloon to 6.23 during the month of April but last month brought back the Jon Lester of old. The veteran ace dazzled in May registering a 4-1 record and a 1.76 ERA. Tonight he will try to keep his mojo intact as he makes his first start in June against a team he hasn’t faced in almost six years.
The Marlins will send a veteran hurler of their own to the hill this evening in Dan Haren (3.03 ERA, 1.04 WHIP). Miami’s last three games have all gone low and their 24th ranked offense could have a little something to do with that. However one member of the Marlins who cannot be held responsible for their dearth of runs is All-Star Giancarlo Stanton. Despite his meager .230 batting average Stanton has exploded for 16 homeruns and 45 RBI’s in the first two months of the season.
In this matchup we have a top tier pitcher in Lester versus a crafty veteran in Haren who has had only one bad outing this season and only two games where he has allowed only more than two earned runs. Both teams are in the lower third of the major offensive statistical categories with the Cubs scoring a high of five runs only once over the course of their last eight games while the Marlins games have gone under the MLB odds total in eight of their last 10 games.
Betting Trends to Consider
*Both games between these clubs have gone under the posted MLB odds total this season.
*Five of eight games have gone under the MLB odds total over the past three seasons.
*Both of Lester’s career starts against the Marlins have gone under the posted MLB odds total.

8:10 PM EDT Indians (25-25-1 O/U) vs. Royals (23-22-4 O/U)
Last year’s AL Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber (3.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) broke out of the box with two strong performances but then had a mystifying four-game stretch of ineptitude from April 22nd through May 7th where he registered a 7.43 ERA. But since then the 29-year-old righty from Birmingham, Alabama has been nothing short of dazzling. In his last four starts Kluber has responded with a 1.41 ERA and a striking out a whopping 50 batters over 32 innings of work.
Jason Vargas (5.16 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) gets the nod for the Royals who came off a three week stint on the DL to pitch four innings and allow two earned runs to the Yankees on May 26th. Vargas has already faced the Indians twice this season and posted solid outings in both surrendering a combined four earned runs on only five hits in 11 innings of work.
Although Kluber has been unconscious recently he has had a measure of difficulty against the Royals throughout his career. In his two previous starts this season against Kansas City Kluber has been knocked around for 11 runs (nine earned) and 17 hits over 12 innings of work. Kansas City’s Mike Moustakas has had his way with Kluber going 13 for 27 with a homerun and five doubles.
Betting Trends to Consider
*Vargas has a career 4.86 ERA with a 1.302 WHIP in his 11 appearances against Cleveland.
*The over is 6-4-1 in Kluber’s 11 starts versus KC.
*The over is 8-3 over Vargas’s career starts versus Cleveland.
*The over is 26-16 over the past three seasons between these two clubs.
*Six of seven games between these two clubs have gone over.
