We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Sunday's stacked card and offer two selections to maximize your profits and end the week on a winning note.

Cubs vs. Marlins

Left-hander Mike Montgomery (1-3, 2.26 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) takes the hill for the Cubs after throwing six scoreless innings and surrendering just four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in a 4-0 win against the Padres last Monday. Montgomery has a 2.76 ERA in eight road appearances (one start) and he's given up just four earned runs over his last 18 1/3 innings of work.

Edinson Volquez (3-8, 4.19 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) will get the ball for the Marlins after his worst outing of the season last Monday, when he gave up six earned runs on five hits and five walks with four strikeouts in just 4 2/3 innings of a 12-3 loss against the Nationals. Volquez has now allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in just 8 2/3 innings over his last two starts. I'm taking the Cubs at -115 MLB odds as Montgomery continues to perform well as a starter.

Athletics vs. White Sox

Sonny Gray (2-3, 4.84 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) will start for the Athletics after allowing five earned runs on seven hits (one home run) and four walks with five strikeouts over five innings on Tuesday's 8-4 loss against the Astros. Gray is winless since May 24 and he's just 0-2 with a 5.96 ERA in four road starts.

Derek Holland (5-7, 4.48 ERA, 1.52 WHIP) will make his 15th start of the season for the White Sox. The left-hander is coming off a disastrous performance against the Twins last Monday, when he gave up seven earned runs on eight hits (two home runs) and one walk with three strikeouts in just 2 2/3 innings of a 9-7 loss. Holland has now allowed six or more earned runs in three of his last four starts. I'm looking at Over 10 (-105) for my MLB picks, even with such a high total because Gray and Holland have been terrible all season long.
