Our MLB handicapping professional returned from the all-star break on Friday and went a perfect 3-0 with his totals picks. Today he shares his top two O/U along with their betting analysis.
Marlins (Koehler) vs. Phillies (Billingsley) 7:05 PM ET
Tom Koehler has been superb during his previous three starts. However, the right-handed hurler’s whole body of work this season on the road has been less than impressive. Koehler has gone 5-2-1 over the total in eight road starts with a 5.26 ERA.
The Marlins have gone over the total in each of their last three games, scoring a combined 25 runs, and pounding out 40 hits. According to the MLB betting odds, Miami is currently a -130 money line favorite at Bookmaker. The Marlins are 13-1 over the total since 2014 as a money line road favorite of -110 or more.
Chad Billingsley has struggled in his six starts this season, posting a large 6.75 ERA and 1.75 WHIP. The veteran right-hander doesn’t figure to get much help today from a hitter friendly home plate umpire. Bill Welke will get that assignment on Saturday, and he’s gone 12-5 over the total when calling balls and strikes this season.
The Phillies left just 3 men on base in last night’s 6-3 win over Miami. Philadelphia has gone a perfect 7-0 over the total this season following a game in which they left 3 or less men on base. Those seven contests averaged a whopping 12.5 runs combined score per game. Philadelphia has been involved in a plethora of high scoring games during the past four weeks, going 19-7-1 over the total during their previous twenty-six outings. They’ve allowed 6.2 runs per game during their previous ten, and opponents have a combined 57 hits during the last four.
If you haven’t figured it out already, I like this game to be a high scoring affair for one of my MLB picks on Saturday. JustBet.com offers the most reasonable price in that regard.
MLB Pick: Play on the Marlins and Phillies Over 8.0 (-110) at JustBet
Rockies (Bettis) vs. San Diego (Ross) 8:40 PM ET
Chad Bettis enters tonight in horrible form over his previous three starts. During that time, Bettis compiled a mammoth 10.29 ERA and 2.21 WHIP. The Rockies possess a terrific .345 team batting average and have an extremely impressive .538 slugging percentage over their last seven games.
Although Tyson Ross has been very good in recent starts, his 4.50 ERA during seven home starts leaves a lot to be desired. According to the MLB betting odds at 5Dimes, the total in this game tonight is just 6.5. San Diego has gone 17-5 over the total at home this season when the total is either 6.0 or 6.5.
MLB Pick: Play on the Rockies and Padres Over 6.5 (-110) at 5Dimes
