Two solid pitchers battle against two weak offenses when the Texas Rangers visit the Tampa Bay Rays.  I am backing the under the total in this game as I look for a low scoring affair.

Chris Archer for the Rays comes in with a 1.64 ERA and WHIP of 0.89.  He is coming into this game off his worst performance of the year giving up 4 runs off of 6 hits in 6 innings, not bad for being his worst.  In his career he comes in with a 3.22 ERA and batters only hitting .229 off of him, he has electric stuff.  On the other end is surprising Nick Martinez for the Rangers, he comes in with an ERA under 1.00 and a WHIP of 1.13.  Career wise he has a 3.86 ERA and batters are hitting .268 off of him.  This year so far he has been very solid, not a big strike out guy but gets a lot of ground outs and fly outs.  His numbers are either misleading or he is starting to develop.   I am siding with the latter as he has pitched well against good hitting teams like the A’s and Dbacks.

MLB Odds makers have come out with this line at 7.  With the solid start of the pitchers alone I like the value on the under, but both teams have struggled so far this season on the offensive end as well.

You don't want to miss the MLB picks of the day we have for you!

Bottom of the league
There is just not any way around how poor these offenses have been so far this year.  Texas is ranked last in the league in batting average hitting .220 and Tampa Bay is ranked 24th hitting .233.  Texas did have a nice day at the plate yesterday but on the road again they are facing a different pitcher Archer.  In most offensive categories including runs per game, hits, slugging %, and total bases both these teams rank 20th or lower out of 30 major league teams.

The over under being at 7 is low for the American League.  Statistically though we are getting two solid pitchers and two weak offenses.  If both starters can go at least 6 innings there is a really good chance at the under in this spot which makes it my MLB pick of the day.
