We have a few rain out makeup games and the Subway Series continues on this Thursday’s edition of MLB Picks of the Day. Find out who we think are the hot bets for today’s slate of games as we take a closer look at the MLB betting odds.

We had a winning MLB pick day on Wednesday highlighted by the pitching of Masahiro Tanaka as he won his 34th consecutive decision. Folks, this is a site to see as nobody will ever reach this feat again. Tanaka dominated the Mets at CitiField as he pitched a complete game shutout.

I’d prefer not to mess with the rained out make up games unless I have to because we won’t know who will be available up until the lineups are made up. I’m headed right back to CitiField.

New York Yankees (20-19) at New York Mets (19-20)

Unfair to the Mets?
Even the Yankee hierarchy confirmed that CitiField is a difficult place for the ball to carry. With that said, Yangervis Solarte and Mark Teixiera each went deep in New York’s win over the Mets on Wednesday. Daniel Murphy of the Mets and Curtis Granderson each had fly balls that would have went out at Yankee Stadium but not at CitiField.

You have to look at it this way. Although the Mets' hitters are at a disadvantage offensively, the Mets are at an advantage pitching-wise because the baseball stays in the park on a regular basis.

Tonight, we don’t know what we’ll see as the starting pitchers for each team will be making their major league debuts. The Mets got the best of the Yankees at Yankee Stadium and the Yankees returned the favor at CitiField. In my mind, the Mets have a bright future, but the Yankees are built for the present time. I also like the way that Solarte and Teixiera are hitting the baseball. If you can get the Yankees as an underdog with no decisive edge in pitching, side with the Bombers as your MLB pick.

Cleveland Indians (19-21) at Toronto Blue Jays (20-21)

Much Better Than Their Record Indicates
After monitoring Cleveland’s play over the 1st month and a half of the season, I’m realizing that this is an explosive team, that’s unstoppable when they’re on a roll and last night was one of those nights.

Cleveland is coming off of a 15-4 destruction of the Blue Jays on Wednesday in which they scored 11 runs in the last 3 innings of the game. When the Tribe are on the roll, there’s no team that can stop them and that’s saying a lot being that they’re 2 games below .500. The problem is that they’re not consistent enough collectively as a baseball team.

A Career Night For Murphy
David Murphy, formerly of the Texas Rangers, is known for being a serviceable baseball player but had the night of his life in Canada last night as he went 5 for 6 on the night with 3 doubles and 5 runs batted in.

Along with Murphy, Carlos Santana, who has been battling a season long slump, had a huge night as he belted his 5th home run of the season to go along with 2 runs batted in and 3 runs. Guys like Santana and Asdrubal Cabrera have major potential and on nights like these, you wonder why Santana is hitting a dismal .154 on the season.

I look for Cleveland to come into this game at +100 odds with major momentum. The Tribe will be facing J.A. Happ and in his last start, Happ got the quick hook as he was ineffective against the Los Angeles Angels and went just 2 1/3 innings and allowed 4 runs, 2 home runs, and 7 hits in total. Happ looked lost on the mound and this is the perfect pitcher for Cleveland to face as they look to get closer to the .500 mark.
