Coming off of a 2-0 day on Thursday in which I hit my 2-unit selection with the New York Yankees, I feel revitalized and ready to make a major run towards the end of the season. Here are your MLB betting picks.

Chicago White Sox (63-76) vs. Cleveland Indians (71-67)

Sale vs. House
If you can get superstar Chris Sale (11-3, 2.11) at a moderate betting price on MLB odds against a Cleveland Indians team with no legitimate superstar, you need to select Chicago in this matchup.

The Tribe are capable of putting up 10 runs on any team, but they’re a very inconsistent ball club. Chris Sale on the other hand, has had tougher matchups lately and is coming off of a huge victory over Max Scherzer and the Detroit Tigers.

Sale had been in a bit of a rut, but in the end, defeated the Detroit Tigers on August 30th, 6-3. It took Chris Sale 119 pitches in just 7 innings pitched as he allowed 3 early runs, but he struck out 13 batters and outdueled Scherzer, who has a much better offense supporting him.

With the loss of Adam Dunn, Chicago is even more at a disadvantage. We thought that Dunn couldn’t hit his weight, but he has been a major force with the Oakland Athletics, getting off to a quick start.

AL Rookie of the Year
The one major asset that the Chicago White Sox possess besides Chris Sale is rookie Jose Abreu. Abreu is on a monster run, going 10 for his last 16 at-bats and is on a 13 game hitting streak. For the season, Abreu has 33 HR, 99 RBI, and a .322 BA. It won’t take much support, but look for Abreu to be a factor against a very ineffective Tom House as the White Sox ride the back of Chris Sale to a victory.

Houston Astros (61-79) vs. Oakland Athletics (79-60)

Way Overdue
The Oakland Athletics are very thankful to be finished with their series against the Los Angeles Angels, but those teams could possibly meet again and Oakland will need to find a way to defeat the indestructible Halos.

Another issue that the A’s didn’t expect has been the average pitching of acquisition of Jeff Samardzija (4-4, 3.57). It appears that playing in the American League is a lot tougher than the National League for the lanky, long-haired Notre Dame grad.

How ironic that Samardzija never received run support when he pitched for the Chicago Cubs and now he can’t win with a team that does produce more run in Oakland. Since the Samardzija trade, Chicago’s offense has taken off with players like Jorge Soler and this was the offense that Samardzija was looking for all along.

This is the stretch run in which Oakland needs to fine tune their team which is destined for the post-season. A good start would be against a bottom-feeder such as the Houston Astros. While the Astros have some talent on their squad in Jose Altuve and Chris Carter, they’re not ready to be a winning baseball team yet and Oakland is ready to win now. Good pitching should prevail in this matchup. Look for Samardzija to come up big in a very important September game for Oakland.
